So on Tuesday I woke up with a very sore back. I thought I had maybe slept funny so I kept warming a wheat bag up all day and resting on that when I could to try and loosen up my muscles. Tuesday night I was super sore and achy all night. My baby slept fairly well that night and I was wide awake in pain and having night sweats. I took Tylenol and felt much better on Wednesday and then Wednesday night all evening I had aches and pains again and extreme chills. I couldn't warm up no matter what I did. All day Thursday I was in agony and freezing. I tried to have a hot bath and when I went to take off my clothes with my ice cold hands I started bawling as it hurt to touch my skin with my own hands! I took my temperature with our adult thermometer and it said my temperature was really low, I tried the baby one and it said I had a fever so I was quite confused and figured I better go get looked at as I have had ongoing UTI's since my 2nd trimester and I know the back pain and some of my other symptoms could have meant maybe a kidney infection. I went to hospital and had no fever so they did blood work and a urine sample. The results came back quickly and it turns out my white blood cell count was very low which meant I was prone to infection. I was told I needed to get hooked up to IV for the night. They originally gave me a suite so I could have my baby with me but since I not breast feeding and he hasn't had any vaccines yet I didn't want to take the unnecessary risk of him being in contact with so many germs. As much as it was hard to not be with him during all this time I didn't want to risk him getting sick and figured I would only be here for the night. On Friday morning I woke up with a fever and the nurse pointed out how rashy my arms looked. She checks my back and it was so much worse than my arms and my legs were awful too! My face was very flushed and it turns out I was having a reaction to one of the medicines administered through the IV. I felt much better and it wasn't itchy so I was given Benadryl all day and it slowly went away. This morning (Saturday) my bloodwork and urine was retested and I was told that if everything was fine that I would be a free bird. I was so excited and started packing up slowly when the bad news came. My numbers were better but not good enough and since I have a viral infection they don't want to release me too early as my immunities are so low. The kicker is tomorrow is my baby shower and my mom who is having it at her house literally lives across the street from the hospital. I explained this and they said they have no problem giving me a day pass for a couple of hours as I only need to be here every couple goes to get the IV and so they can keep tabs on things. That made me feel much better though I can't wait to be officially released so I can go back to being mommy at home and my husband can go back to work. Thankfully we live in a small town with both our families here so everyone has been very helpful pitching in as I feel so useless while I sit in the hospital feeling fine just needed to stay on the drip. I've been grateful for the couple of quick visits my baby has made to me and all the visits by friends and family to help pass the time!
