Short version: No babies last night, got sent home at 4:30am.
Loooooong version I started contracting at 4:00 (pm) and they told me if I had 6/hour for 2 hours to call. By the time my H got home and I called (6-6:30) the CX had really slowed down. The MW said to watch it for another hour. I sat on the couch and didn't' move from 6:30-7:30 and they were so light but very regular (5-6 min apart).
I called back and they wanted me to come in since we are so far in case it did pick up! The CXS picked up in intensity throughout getting to L&D.
By he time we got there, checked in and hooked up to the monitors they were coming every 2-3 minutes but still not too intense (probably a 1-2 or 3 on scale of 10). Nurse checked me and I was at 2cm. This was my first check this pregnancy so nothing to compare it to. The CXS continued at same interval and intensity.
Dr. explained that it could be pre-term CXS or PTL. He wanted to give me terbuteline to see which it was. Apparently that med. will stop CXS but if you are in actual labor the labor will "break through" and not be stopped. I was to get 2-3 doses every 15 min, if CXS stopped we would re-check cervix, if no change I could go home.
Sounded like a good plan to us, b/c we would know fairly quickly. After the first dose the CXS did slow to every 5-6 min (vs the 2-3). But there was a shift change and they waited 45 min before my next dose!!! Then they decided to do IV fluids with the meds to see if that would stop them completely.
After the second dose they still didn't come back to administer a third in the 15 minutes they told us. Another 45 min go by and the CXS have really slowed, now every 6-9 min. the nurse says they will check my cervix again and that will be the determining factor in whether I'm in labor or not.
By the time the Doctor come in again I've had 2 doses of the meds and haven't had a CX for 20 ish min. We are thinking that we'll get to go home (it is around 1 am). Doc checks and says that I'm a a 4!!!! Everyone is very confused...I'm not having CXS but apparently progressing (I'm thinking this is the easiest labor ever ).
He says at a 4cm I'm in labor, i'll move up to a real delivery room, walk to try to get things going, he'll break my water, all of that good stuff. Doc leaves, we are excited thinking we're going to get babies today.
In the meantime he consulted with the nurse that did the initial exam and apparently his 4 cm is her 2 cm. She said that maybe I was a 2+. Doctor comes back and says that I'm definitely at a 4cm but I probably came in that way and haven't actually progressed. He wants me to walk for 20-45 min and then get hooked up to the monitors for 15 (to watch babies heart rates and see if any contractions show up) and then repeat it. If no progress/change in that 2 hours we'd go home.
The 2 hours ended up being more like 3-4. He checked me again and I was still a 4 cm and only had 1 or 2 CXS that whole time. So they sent us home at 4:30 am.
Doctors opinion was that with my short cervix issues earlier in pregnancy and having twins he doesn't like me walking around at a 4. He wants to induce me next week after I turn 36 weeks (Wednesday). When I asked how to schedule it he said that they would do it at my appt. on Tuesday...but that is with a midwife and he will be at at different office so I'm not sure that the doctor at my office will have the same opinion about inducing.
Then he says he doesn't think I'll make it to my Tuesday appt. based on short cervix, being a 4 cm and having all those contractions. I'm skeptical b/c we don't know how long I have been at a 4.
So, I may go into labor soon, or may be induced next week, or whomever I see next week may say let the babies cook longer...ahhhhh I hate not knowing!!!!
Told you it was the long version Basically I'm a ticking time bomb until Tuesday.
And, the room I was in was basically a L&D triage room, not the actual birthing room and there was NOOOOOO cell service, otherwise I would have updated last night and entertained all the night time bumpies.
Re: YankeePeach's night at L&D...babies are still inside (for now)
Very exciting !! I cant wait to see what the first team green babies will be !!!!!

I don't know why but I've felt much more bothered by the uncertainty of when they're coming with this pregnancy, even though pretty much everyone is in the same boat.
Also, I think @Jenstwins was team green too, right?
