Baby Monitor Rec?

Hello Ladies,
I'm expecting our second LO in May, and need a sound only monitor with clarity and good range.  With DS, we used the Angelcare, and I hated the motion detetector piece.  The clarity and range is not great either.  I don't care about video or bells and whistles....

Any good experiences to report?

  • We have this one and really like it: clicky

  • We have this one. They also sell the same model with 2 parent units. I can't speak to the battery life because we leave our parent unit plugged in on our dresser, but the clarity is great. You can even adjust the sensitivity, so it doesn't pick up every tiny sigh if you don't want it to (DD is a restless sleeper, so we had to up the sensitivity a bit so we didn't have to hear her role over every time).

  • We couldn't find an audio one that we felt comfortable with, so we went with a Motorola video monitor. We're actually really glad to have the video, even though initially we thought we wouldn't use it.
  • We have the same VTech one as @kerbear135. It has been awesome (we have the 2 parent units) until this past weekend. We normally leave the baby unit on all the time (even when he's not in the room), but DH decided to turn it off yesterday. For some reason, when we turned it back on, it stopped working! Argh! I guess it stops emitting signal so the parental units are not picking up anything.

Did you try turning the parent units off and then turning the baby unit on first, then the parental units? It always says "linking" when we turn the parent unit on, so maybe it has to synch back up with the baby unit?

We have tried everything under the sun... unplugging everything, turning everything off, replug and turn back on etc like 50 times in all sorts of combination.  No luck! :(
