What songs do you sing? Part 2

I don't think this has been discussed before. If so, sorrrry!

I sing certain songs to Ben at certain times that are NOT nursery rhymes. At diaper changes I catch myself consistently singing, "Booty booty booty booty rockin' everywhere!" And when he's hungry, "Hungry eyes... One look at you and you can't disguise you've got, hungry eyyyyes" and when he's sleepy same song just sub sleepy eyes for hungry eyes. Oh! And I figured out recently that if I fast rap while changing his diaper he doesn't do the crocodile death roll on me. My go-to's are Ice Ice Baby and Shoop by Salt n Peppa. I own my dorkiness. Anyone else do this kind of stuff?

LO loves "What Does the Fox Say". Of course it's annoying because it gets stuck in my head but she cracks up every time. Especially during the ring ding ding duh ding da ding ding part.

I just giggled too. Apparently it works on me as well. ;)

  • "It's gettin' hot in herrrre..." When I'm changing her clothes of course. So child appropriate.

    Bahahahaaa. Good one.

  • I sing so many different songs. Poor kid. I have a horrible voice. Tonight it was Stevie Wonder's Overjoyed.

  • My kid loves "you've lost that lovin' feeling" when he's cranky. It helps that I sing all the parts, including the instrumental sections.

When he was in the pnp in our room I would sing that song that goes "boom boom boom boom, I want you in my room..."

  • We rock out to a lot of Billy Joel over here.  And the song "Happy" by Pharrell- it is B's new favorite.

  • "Yesterday" by the Beatles and "Be My Baby".  Sometimes she gets some Elvis or whatever is stuck in my head.  That's usually to go to sleep.

H likes to turn on music and dance with Lily.

  • Lots of Beatles here. "I will" and "if I fell" are favorites. We also sing the "what the fox say" song ... and Outkast "so fresh so clean" in the tubby. Lots and lots of singing in our house.
  • Everything becomes a song for us. I think I could record a collection of children's songs.. the most current favorite being "Hey mr stinky butt" to the tune of Day-o!

Besides songs we write, I often sing bushel and a peck, baby face, and my little sunshine .. which my grandma used to sing to me :).

  • H and I both make up lots of silly songs about whatever Iris is doing.  Not surprisingly, many of the ones that have stuck due to repetition involve boobs, poopy diapers, or crying.  I've also gotten a lot of mileage out of "Pajama Time" to the tune of "Manamana" from the muppets, the Dixie Chicks, Simon and Garfunkel, Joni Mitchell, and plenty of actual children's songs and nursery rhymes.
  • I've been needing new material. This is awesome!! Totally stealing Riding Dirty (for dirty diapers) and Be My Baby.
  • Hahaha this is awesome! Thought I was the only one. I made up a couple haha. My daughter loves "You are my sunshine" right before naps and bedtime. My grandma sang it to me all the time before she passed when I was 15. So it's bittersweet that she likes it as well. But that and "cups" from pitch perfect lol
