I've never been an early riser and have always been in the terrible habit of using the snooze button too much. I'm also a terrible procrastinator. Do any moms get up early in the am before everyone else does to have "me time" to do what you need to do for yourself whether it's exercising or reading for fun or whatever else you would like to do for you and constantly gets pushed to the back burner to do other things.
I love sleep but am thinking about trying to get into this habit. In the financial world they talk about paying yourself first and putting money into your savings first before doing other things. I think that makes sense and have an automatic deduction coming out as soon as I get paid. My thinking is that maybe I start my day by paying myself first and then move on with my day of being a mom, wife, and worker.
Anyone else do this? Success stories and inspiration please!
Re: me time in the morning?
I also find this to be my most productive time of day at home. In the evenings, we are doing the dinner, bath, and bedtime routine. After that, I don't have much energy for anything, so I find I can get more done if I just go to bed and get up earlier.
My "me time" is at night after kids are in bed. I will watch tv or read a book, things that are relaxing.
My alarm goes off before DS wakes up so I can shower and get ready in peace. I guess you can call that my "me time". I already get up too early to fit in exercise in the am, but that's not really my priority right now, to be honest!

Beautiful baby girl born 11.24.14
I think I would have to get up too early to do this so I prefer to use the time after my kids have gone to bed to read, watch tv, etc. Something I have been trying to do more and more in the mornings is realizing that there is really no good sleep after you hit the snooze so it's better to just get up and get going.
I do leave for work early enough most days that I arrive about 15 minutes early, make my coffee and have a little "me" time then.
Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12
Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck. Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.
This Cluttered Life
Now, DH leaves at 5am, hits the gym near his office, and then heads to work so that he can leave at 4 to be home by 5. I get up at 5:30-5:45 3-4 times a week to work out. I try to be in the shower by 6:15-6:20, so it's a quick workout, but at least it's something. The kids get up anywhere from 6:15-7:15, so sometimes I wind up with a good chunk of "me" time. If not, I get good quality time with the kids when they're in really good moods.
I told my DH that she learned to talk, and her first phrase was, "Mommy, I wrecked your body, and I'm going to keep it that way!"
Evenings are a lot better for me! DS is usually in bed by 8, so I get an hour or two (or 3 if I know I don't have to get UP early the next day) of "me" time then.
And he's now old enough that I can usually squeeze in my workout in the early evening - while he's playing or eating dinner.
It's a lot better when it's not negative thirty degrees though.
