Tranquil Turtle Question

Those of you that have it, do you like it? Does it work better than something like one of those things you put on the railing of the crib with the moving things? I am looking to get something that travels well, because this summer we are going to be camping a lot and I want to make the sleep transition from her crib to the pnp at our camper an easy one, so I thought maybe buying this and using it to help her fall asleep will also help her get used to sleeping at our camper.  Just looking for some feedback on this....or any other soother. :)

Re: Tranquil Turtle Question

  • We have this: https://www.amazon.com/Fisher-Price-Ocean-Wonders-Soothe-Seahorse/dp/B000W3XEQM

It works like a champ to soothe him to sleep (and back to sleep after MOTN feeds). We use it for naps at home too. I did read some reviews saying there have been malfunctions with the battery pack, but I take it out of his crib after he falls asleep.

"The cleaning, the scrubbing will wait til tomorrow,
For children grow up, as I've learned to my sorrow.
So, quiet down cobwebs. Dust go to sleep.
I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep."

  • I second the seahorse for portability. DD also loves the nemo crib soother: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0092YYDPS. If she wakes in middle of night she will turn it on and fall back asleep. It's really easy to take off and put back on.
  • I have the sea horse too, but I really want the turtle. It is too cute.

We have the seahorse and the turtle. She loves both, but won't fall asleep to either. I think she's a "no boob, no sleep" kind of baby.

The tranquil turtle is pretty freaking awesome though (once I got one that the motion doesn't stick). Cloud b has excellent customer service, which is good. It definitely puts me to sleep in no time.

Eta: I think it'll be better when she's older an no longer nurses to sleep. I can see it being a huge help then.

  • Tranquil turtle is the shizz.  It's perfect for travel.
  • Dd doesn't understand those toys are for sleep. Last night she tried to latch on to Twilight Turtle's shell.

The glow worm is her favorite teething toy.

In short, I am the wrong person to answer your question.

  • I also have the glow worm but I find the battery is very short lived. I felt like I was always changing its batteries every week. So I use the scout now instead and have him sing 10 min of bedtime music.

We have the tranquil turtle, and it seems to help LO calm down, but she won't fall asleep to it. I think it might be more helpful when she's a bit older.

  • I just got the Twilight Ladybug, which is like the turtle, but it projects stars and doesn't have sounds. I'm really hoping it helps her fall asleep....

  • We have a lights only turtle for because I wanted one. DS1 is now 2.5 yrs. and he has never fallen asleep to the turtle but it has been a useful MOTN soothing device and night light. DS1 also likes putting it in the blanket forts he builds. IMHO it wasn't a waste of money but we could've lived without it. I still think it is neat after 2 years. Much better than the glow in the dark sticker stars I had as a kid that only glowed for 5 minutes after you turned out the light.

  • I just bought that TODAY! We will see how it works! DH thought it was the coolest thing ever :)
