When is bath time?

I usually post on the Dec 13 board (my due date was in Dec) but LO decided to come in late Nov so I've been lurking here since then. So, hi! :)

We've only been doing baths 2-3x a week due to some severe dry skin issues, but the pedi said we can start doing baths daily now. But my question is, when do you do bath time? I'm wondering if you do it right after your last feeding before bedtime if LO will spit up? Or if it's good to do it then when LO is full and happy? We've never done it regularly enough for it to be part of our routine so I'm not sure.

Right now we feed at 7pm and 10pm and LO goes down for the night after the 10pm feeding but that's too late for bathtime, so I'm wondering if we do bath time after the 7pm feeding (so probably down around 8:30-9) and then try to see how long he sleeps...

TIA!

Re: When is bath time?

  • We only bathe every few days.. but when we do it is around 7:30ish.  We bath, do some infant massage, put on pjs, have a bottle and then she is down for about 4ish hours before her next feeding.

  • We bathe LO every night before last feeding/bed - so approx 8pm. Bath, pj's, swaddle, boob. She falls asleep nursing and we carefully transfer her to the crib. She sleeps pretty much through the night
  • We bathe Sunday night through Thursday night then do a massage at 7:45. After that she is ready to chow down and usually falls asleep for the night by 8:30pm. Then she sleeps until I wake up for work.

  • I find that if we feed LO before his bath, which we try to do between 7-8 every night, he always spits up because its too much jostling/excitement for his full belly. Since I started nursing him after the bath (and massage and PJs), his tummy seems happier and he goes to sleep more easily--though I use the word "easily" very loosely.

  • DD gets her reflux meds at 6pm, then its bath time (between 6-630). Its part of our bed time routine, I aim to get her in bed by 7-730.

  • We bathe G every 2-3 nights. We start bath time around 8pm, or before his bed time feeding, depending on when he last ate before that. Since he started daycare we bathe him with soap more often, just because he gets "dirtier" than he did before. Laying and playing in the same stuff as other babies and whatnot.

  • We bath L everyday. I do it in the mornings since our evening schedule isn't consistent from day to day, DH and I are very involved in our church and a few other things so we are at the church or at our parents' houses or have company over or something almost every night so it makes it difficult to have a consistent nightly routine, though we do have a bedtime routine.

  • Every 2-3 days we do a bath around 8:30 after nursing, burping and farting a ton. If we don't pump his legs to fart he farts in the tub and sometimes surprise poops. Not fun...a little too much relaxation on his part I guess.
Massaged with lavender lotion(does it even work?), in pjs, in the sleep sack by 9ish. Rock in the glider and nurse to sleep. This takes anywhere from half an hour to an hour. Note: Bath time is fab until we get him out of the tub. The cold air causes screaming and thrashing until he is on the boob, which is why we don't do baths daily.

  • Bathe P every other night around 7:30 or 8. We get him in pjs after, swaddle and then feed and he sleeps usually 5- sometimes 8 hours if it's a good night
