Thyroid

Did anyone have low thyroid during pregnancy? What did they do for u?

Re: Thyroid

  • I found out I was hypothyroid and I have to take 'synthroid' everyday now, for the rest of my life. I saw an endocrinologist and will continue to see him yearly now
  • I naturally have low thyroid levels, I've been on levothyroxine for a couple years.  Cheap, no biggie, blood test once a year now that we've gotten the the dosage correct.

  • just curious, how did they dianose that you had tyroid problems?
  • A test for the TSH level in your blood.

  • A test for the TSH level in your blood.

I guess I meant what symptoms were you having?
  • I went to the dr for a check up because I was getting headaches frequent loose bowel movements and dizzy ..he did bloodwork for EVERYTHING and it was noticed he wanted to retest in 2 months and since I got pregnant OBGYN tested since I filled them in on med history
  • Oh, during an annual physical my doc felt around my neck and thought it was a little swollen.  I have a history of thyroid disease on one side of my family, which she had in my chart so she ordered the test.  Then I told her my husband had been complaining about my hair shedding EVERYWHERE, which i was just telling her to be funny, but she said thats a symptom too.

  • hmmm, I wondered because I have been dizzy lightheaded for about 2 months now and it's not an ear infection and phycial therapy didn't do anything....maybe I should go back to doc and see if they will do blood work, of couse I've been on WebMD and it could be just about anything
  • @IPowell333 doesn't hurt to ask
  • Hair shedding is a symptom?  That's interesting. I shed like crazy and it seems to be picking up again after it slowed down from the pregnancy hormone shedding.

I just got tested again, but I need to call for my results.  I was on levothyroxine during my pregnancy.  I was still within normal ranges, but higher than they liked for a TTC cycle (RE office).  So, they medicated me and it dropped to more acceptable levels and I got pregnant (FET).  Then I got to stay on it until I wasn't pg anymore.  I just randomly stopped taking it after I delivered and had them retest a couple months ago.  Of course, I haven't called for the result.  Gotta do it.

Anyway - they always test TSH when I have routine physicals with all the bloodwork.  Just a routine test really.

TTC since May 2006. After 3 failed Clomid cycles, 2 failed Injectibles/IUIs, 2 failed IVFs and 1 failed FET, we moved on to adoption!

Last ditch FET resulted in BFP, and identical twin girls!

  • I'm hypothyroid too. Took a couple years to diagnose. If you get tested make sure you demand they do a T3 test. My TSH kept coming back in the normal range but I finally found a doctor to test T3 and it was way off. I don't know why but a lot of docs won't test that. So make sure you ask. Having both your T3 and TSH done will give the most accurate decision.
