    • Last weeks goals/activities: how did you fair in meeting your goals? First half of the week was great; second half, terrible. So I got in only 2 workouts and 3 mini exercise sessions (bodyweight squats, hamstring stretches)
    • What are your goals/activities planned for this week? Same as always 3-4 workouts, daily mini-workouts.
    • GTKY: Do you have any postpartum workout plans or goals? I actually don't. I've been sort of focused on the immediate home from the hospital time, but I'm realizing, I need to start to consider a little further out. I think shopping for strollers made me realize I hope to be out and walking with baby soon… not as an exercise goal, just as a lifestyle goal. But the thought did make me consider when and how I'll be resuming exercise postpartum.

Last weeks goals/activities: how did you fair in meeting your goals?
My only goal is walking and squats right now. I did my walking daily (hooray!), but didn't do ANY of my squats (boo!). I'll pay for that this week.

What are your goals/activities planned for this week?
I am trying to keep my walking goals until the bitter end! So far I'm good this week. Doing it in the morning makes all the difference for me. I am going to amend my squat goal to 3x per week. I've done 1 so far. They're really getting quite difficult (surprisingly so!).

GTKY: Do you have any postpartum workout plans or goals?
Loosely. We'll see how the birth goes, but if I don't have any complications and heal normally, I'll be back to my daily walks asap, and hopefully back to a VERY basic version of my pre-baby weights routine by the 6th week. I don't want to get injured, so I'm happy to take it slow and let my body heal. Longer term goal is to be back tofighting form 6 months post-birth.

@benevolentforce: Sounds like our goals are very similar with walking and squats--and I'm doing similarly poorly with the squats this week! Morning workouts make all the difference for me, as well. It is very helpful to hear others postpartum workout plans; at the moment, it seems like some big black hole of unknown-ness to me!

I am in awe of you ladies doing squats! I would get stuck half way up which is when the sciatic pain starts. So most likely I'd just fall right back down!

Anyway, I've been doing semi-workouts on the elliptical. Using the spin bike is now out since my legs hit my belly...awesome. My goal is just to do it as often as I feel up to it. Some days I have too much pressure depending on the baby's position, so those days are just skipped. I missed yoga last week due to the nasty weather but am hoping to get there this weekend.

I don't have any goals set per se for afterward. Last time I did very short walks around 4 weeks post c/s and it was still pretty painful. By the 6 week mark when I was cleared, I was able to do a bit more but was still fairly limited...and very out of shape! So I'm just going to see how it goes again. I think I'm more realistic this time about my recovery. last time I expected to bounce back so quickly and thought pshhh, 6 weeks, I'll show them! but, I really just wasn't up to it and that was fine. I'm confident that I will lose the weight again through hard work, just like last time, so I think that takes some of the 'pressure' off.

@clo1982: I'm in awe of you moms dealing with sciatic pain! My complaint to DH last night was not that I'm in so much pain, just that it's mentally draining to feel the same pains in the same spots all day long. Being in pain is so frustrating; I hope you can make it to your yoga class this week and that it might provide some relief!

Last weeks goals/activities: how did you fair in meeting your goals?
Right now I'm doing either the elliptical or the no impact elliptical machine. I've been lagging to only 3 days a week. 50 mins a session then stretching those legs.

What are your goals/activities planned for this week?
I am aiming to go back to 4 times a week, 50 mins a session on elliptical.

GTKY: Do you have any postpartum workout plans or goals?
When I am working out I see the women that are going full force and I cannot help but feel a little jealous. I can barely get off the elliptical without a small balance dance, I think must be what older folks feel like. Plus the staring has to stop, I get stared at while working out and has made me so self conscious. Does anyone else have this problem?

I have been considering how much exercise to do after baby and when to start. I think I will go back to the elliptical as soon as I can and then other weights after doc has okay'd it. I was also looking into pillates with the reformer, which I've always wanted to try it's just so expensive. The diet is something that is bothering me because I would like to go full force but with BF I'm not sure what options I have.

@zartisterica: 50 minutes! Fantastic! What is a no impact elliptical? I've never heard of it. Off to google...

@zartisterica - I haven't been able to use the elliptical for awhile! It's mostly because I just don't know how to go at an acceptable pace, so I end up out of breath and dizzy.  Boo.

Last weeks goals/activities: how did you fair in meeting your goals?
I've continued to walk on the treadmill on the "hill" setting 30 mins/day for 4-5x days a week for most weeks.  This past week was a 4 day week with the unrelenting cold! I've also been participating in a "wall sit challenge" will my colleagues in the office.  We started with a 30 second wall sit and add 5-10 seconds a day.  I can realllllly feel it :)

What are your goals/activities planned for this week?
The usual, although I think I need to try a different treadmill work out, perhaps speed intervals (nothing crazy, I doubt I can go faster than the 3.5 setting).  Anyone have any workouts they recommend?

GTKY: Do you have any postpartum workout plans or goals?
My initial plan is to resume walking on the treadmill when I'm ready (obviously dependent on the type of delivery I have and just how I'm feeling in general).  Eventually I'll work back up to running.  I will also add back in yoga, probably around 3 months after birth.

Aaahhhh I have sucked this past week. Only made it to the pool once. Uh, next week will be better?

Maybe I'll make it tomorrow and that'll be twice. Eh. At least I have been climbing lots of stairs! I'm always a stair-climber, but I have become OBSESSIVE about ALWAYS taking them. Last night we went out to eat and parked on the fourth floor of the garage. MH (who is built like a bean pole and in great shape) was tired and took the elevator, but I took every damn flight of stairs like a BOSS and the elevator only beat me by a minute or so.

Also my one day at the pool was amazing. I went at lunch time so I only had 45 minutes. I didn't count laps. The sun was coming in and shining on the water. I think I slipped into some altered mental state. I was doing flip-turns at the end of every length and the silver sunlit bubbles and the rainbows the little waves formed in the sunlight and.....aaaaaahhhhhhhhhh.

ETA: The sooner I get back to running post-partum the happier I'll be. But I think I'm keeping this pool membership!!!
