Foods that make M/S better?

What foods are working for everyone? So far, I haven't been able to eat more than half a meal before feeling like I am going to throw up. I just want to finish a damn meal!

Re: Foods that make M/S better?

  • Grapes and clementines are my top two. I also keep saltines next to my bed at night.

  • peanut butter toast seems to help me some. My dr suggested pairing a protein and carb.

  • Toast, biscuits, or oatmeal for breakfast.  Grapes, bananas, strawberries, peanut butter crackers are good snacks. I also keep peppermint candy & jolly ranchers in my purse.  Saltines are my go-to every hour or so just to keep something on my tummy, along with ginger ale!

    Dark chocolate milky ways.

No, but seriously. I don't have any in particular. I'll know right away whether or not it's going to be good. Made chicken last night, took one bite, nope. Dog was happy.

  • Thanks guys. I am going to try some of these. I guess nothing sounds good to me right now and that is my real issue. I just wish I liked food again!

  • I was thinking of starting a post like this.

I discovered a couple days ago that blueberry pomegranate juice settles my stomach.

Hope it works for someone else too!

  • I just have to eat about every hour to keep nausea under control. Crackers, grapes, and dry cereal have been my go-to today. I don't eat fried foods often, but with my last pg, sometimes eating something fried or heavy (like Mexican food) would settle my stomach. Also, sour candy.

  • Peanut butter toast and a banana help me. I carry around pretzel chips and preggo pops in my purse just in case nausea flares up as well.

I spoke with a nurse this morning about my m/s and, in addition to getting me a prescrip, she stressed adding more protein to my diet. It is hard when you want to eat nothinggg, but I worked at it today and I have to say I think it helped.

Some of her suggestions: Peanut butter with banana (1/2 banana & PB plus a small bowl of cereal will become my breakfast going forward), or apple/peanut butter would work, or even "ants on a log" - peanut butter spread in celery with a few raisins on top (but celery is unappealing to me right now), a few slices of cheese and crackers (she recommended this before bed, I ate around lunchtime), a healthy nut mix, hardboiled eggs, cottage cheese with fruit...that's all I can recall right now. If you don't care for/can't eat peanut butter, of course almond butter or other nut butters could be a substitute.

I forced a couple of these things down today, and I did find that it helped me to stay fuller longer, and I did not have to eat every single hour to ward off the empty stomach m/s feeling. GL!

Edit - how could I forget Greek yogurt! Greek yogurt with some slivered almonds for crunch is a snack I actually enjoyed a few days this week. Also hummus - but YUCK to that right now for me.
  • Scrambled eggs are the only thing that sounds good when I get nauseous. For some reason I just can't stomach crackers.
  • what would help me the most was fruit..and smoothies. basically having a couple bites of something and a few sips of any liquid every hour. i got tired of eating by week 7 and was annoyed i couldn finish a whole meal. but this last week was the worst cuz it got so bad i wasnt able to drink as much which worried me cuz it didnt want to get dehydrated. so i finally asked for zofran. first day on it and its great so far.

  • Aww poor girl!! Hope you find something you can keep down! Sounds like you could benefit from some meds to help you get there.
  • I tend to gravitate towards tart, fruity flavored things, like greek yogurt, smoothies, apples, lemon drops and jolly ranchers, and raspberry lemonade.  Gingerale works well for me, too.  I try to snack on small things throughout the day so my stomach never gets too empty.
  • I thought of one more thing... for some reason a bowl of cheerios & milk makes me feel better in the morning.  I used to eat oatmeal almost every day, and now the very thought of it makes me gag.

I hope everyone is feeling better soon!  It's no fun feeling this way.

I wish this was the case with me! I'll be fine and get to the very last bite of something and then go throw it all up! Such a waste!

  • Smoothies have been sustaining me so far. I can usually handle string cheese too. Bread and Mexican food are my mortal enemies right now, which sucks because those are two of my favorite things!

  • I eat very small amounts every hour or so. Anything tangy helps a lot for me - pineapples, lemon in my water, grapes, crackers, and strangely anything with buffalo sauce on it....
