Thought my baby was lazy.....LOL

Compared to my first pregnancy I thought, what the heck baby, you must be pretty chill in there ! I could feel it move maybe a couple times a day, nothing like DS !
Turns out I have an anterior placenta and no one bothered to tell me ! I found out by accident while gathering all my paper work to send to the govt regarding my car accident and it was in the report from the ER ultrasound.
Ive tried to google (DANGER), and it doesnt seem like its a big deal, just that I may not feel as much movement as the baby is small. Anyone else have any other input about anterior placentas ?? I see my Dr on Monday and will ask him why he never mentioned it ! LOL

THANKS !

  • I also have an anterior placenta! I feel movements every once in a while but not commonly. Nothing to worry about though :)

No problem. If you search there was another discussion a while back too. :)

It's basically a natural variation, like being left-handed. I found out I have one today at my u/s. Before I could even ask, the tech said, "We only worry if it's too low and covering your cervix. No problem where it is here."

    Don't sweat it. :)

  • I had it with my daughter, and the only difference was that I couldn't feel her as well.  Otherwise no one told me about any other risks or things that would go along with it.

  • I have it. NBD. Just annoying.

I'm not new. I just hate The Bump.

  • I have an anterior placenta as well. It's defiantly NBD. I do feel my baby girl though, several times a day. I always feel her really low by my pelvic bone.
  • I also have an anterior placenta. Still not feeling her much but am a FTM so I'm not sure what I'm feeling down there :)

Like others have said, there's no concern with having this as long as you don't have placenta previa.
  • Count me in!  The only reason I found out at my appointment was because I was watching my u/s tech type in the information.  Once I saw him type "anterior" I was like "Oh! No wonder I haven't been feeling much movement!".  He went on to tell me that the placement of mine was perfectly fine and that I have absolutely nothing to worry about.

  • I feel a lot of movement but it is very low. Still at my pubic bone. I found out at my a/s that I have an anterior placenta as well, so that is why I am feeling baby so low. She is head down and I must just feel the upper portion of her when she moves.
  • They said mine was anterior but I've been feeling a lot more movement early this time than last so maybe it is in a better anterior position if that is even possible? Or theory number 2 is they were wrong on the scan and it IS in fact a velociraptor trying to crawl its way out. But either way it is a common position. Previa is the one they need to keep an eye on more for potential problems
