What kind of thermometer to you use?

We have the kind you stick in the ear and the kind you rub across the forehead. Both are American Red Cross and I get very different results from them if I use them back to back! I need one I can actually believe!

We have an axillary and a rectal thermometer. Most of the time we use the axillary, because it's easier, but will use the rectal if the on-call nurse recommends it. I know that with the axillary and rectal you get different results because of the location, so I would imagine the same would be true for the ear and forehead. I think you can probably believe both.

We use the Exergen temporal thermometer. At the doctor's offices, they've used a temporal thermometer or used a regular thermometer under his arm. I've just assumed that since they use these methods, they are accurate enough

I really like it and feel it's accurate. There is a small ongoing expense for the plastic ear cover things, but I will reuse the same one for the same child somewhat.
