D&C scheduled BUT I have a nasty cold (***plus siggy warning)

At this point, my OB wants me to go ahead with tomorrow's D&C but if I get to the hospital and I'm very congested, the anethsesiologist (sp?) will not want to do it. Anyone gone into this with a bad cold? I am honestly so mad that I feel this sick going into this. I am having a hard time breathing through my nose and tomorrow is heart-breaking enough without getting there and then being told to go home again. Any experiences anyone?

I had a D&C this morning with local anesthetic. Maybe ask about that if you'd like to go forward with it. It took 10 minutes for anesthetic to completely numb me and then the procedure was probably less than 2 minutes. Felt nothing but some cramping (nothing too painful) and then it was over.

May be upsetting.....detailed. I'm so sorry you are going through this. I actually just had my D&C this morning and also have a pretty nasty cold. The Drs weren't concerned about the cold.....unless I had a fever. I was anesthetized using the Mac method.....where it's through 2 IV's and not as deep as general anesthesia. The procedure took 15 minutes....no lie. The waiting and setup positioning was the most difficult part honestly. I waited about 1.5 hours before I was taken to operating room. I was fine until they put me on the table and placed my legs in stirrups. I guess I just got overwhelmed and started to cry....a lot. (This was my first pregnancy after many years of infertility due to stage 4 endometriosis and ovarian cysts.) The nurses were comforting and before I knew it I was calm and asleep. I've been under anesthesia a few times for previous surgeries and this time the recovery time was relatively quick. I awoke really tired and a bit crampy.....but that was expected. I am taking off tomorrow and taking it easy this weekend. Trust your body's reaction and just take things easy. I wish you the best and am sending you positive thoughts! Feel free to PM me with any additional questions.

Thanks ladies! I so appreciate the support. I am getting very anxious about the morning because I still cannot breathe through my nose at all. I want to fast forward to tomorrow night and it's done. I really hope they don't want to postpone because of the cold. Plus, I am already checking for blood every 5 mins because it's been 4 days since my U/S. I don't want to start miscarrying at home tonight. Wow, I'm rambling, sorry.
