At what temp for baby do I call?

You would think I could remember this but alas I cannot.

At what temperature am I supposed to call in for DS2?
We just got home about an hour and a half ago, and I had him pretty bundled up because it's cold outside.  When we got home I put DS2 into a long sleeve onsie and cotton pants.  While nursing him half an hour later I thought he felt warm so I took his temp in the armpit and he was 37.5C (99.5F).  So I took off his pants while I nursed him to see if maybe he was still just too warm from the blankets and fleece onsie I had him in when we were driving.  He has been pants-less for about an hour.  His temp has bounced around between 99.1-99.5F since then.

And/plus/also we've been battling thrush for both of us since Monday (he has it on his bottom, mine is in my breasts). He's being more fussy than usual, but I can calm him by putting him to nurse.  My midwives did mention that thrush can cause indigestion pain so I have been chalking up his fussiness to that until now.

Greater than 100.3. If you're worried get a rectal temp. More accurate.

We were told 100.4 or greater on rectal temp. Armpit won't be the same, so I would take a rectal for accuracy.

I don't own a rectal thermometer, just regular digital ones which I don't think are safe for taking a rectal temp.  Looks like I need to buy one.  I never needed one with DS1.

You should be able to use a standard digital thermometer to take a rectal temp as long as you only insert it to a certain point. We were also told 100.4

99.5 can be normal baby temperature. We were told to call at 100.4 or above.

99.6 is a normal rectal temperature unless your thermometer corrects for It. But I agree 100.4 is the temp you need to be above to consider it a temperature. And if you use a digital thermometer rectally don't insert it past the metallic end portion, that's all the further it should go in that tiny end piece.

He's just 99.5F again rectally this morning, so normal.  Thanks for the help. I never had thrush with DS1 so I was worried it had morphed into something else since DS2 felt a bit warm.
