Hi! I am 36 weeks today and schedule for a c section for Thursday. I'm really dreading it and kinda freaking out. I've had an issue free pregnancy, other than the normal miserable things, and the boys measured 6 lbs 9 oz last week ( even if that's off by a lb, they still appear to be good sized). I'm just worried about nicu time having them prior to 37 weeks. Any encouraging words? I know 36 week deliveries is pretty normal for mono/Di twins, but I still worry. This is my first section, too, so I just don't know what quite to expect.
Good luck! A lot of babies go straight home at 36 weeks. Just focus on the fact that you get to meet your boys soon- I am only 4 weeks behind you and I admit I am a bit jealous. Lots of prayers for you and your little ones!

Most doctors deliver mo/di twins at 36-37 weeks because the placenta can start to break down after that time. All of my doctors have advised delivery around that time. I'll be scheduling a delivery date sometime in week 36 as well.

Good luck! I had my boys at 36w and had to stay in the hospital 4 days after I was discharged so baby b could get back to his birth weight but there were no other issues.
I just had my mono di boys 3 weeks ago via planned section at 36 weeks. The boys came to see me in recovery and then went to Nicu for blood sugar and breathing issues. They were released to my room two days later. On discharge day they ended up back in Nicu for temperature issues but came home the next day and are doing well. Baby a was 5.2 and baby b was 4.12 and were discharged at 4.12 and 4.9. Good luck!!

Identical twin miracle BOYS (!!) headed our way- due date is technically 2/4/14 but c section is scheduled for 1/7!
I was nervous for the c-section too but it was such a breeze! I wonder why anyone even bothers with natural birth - I was up and walking the minute they took all the IVs and everything off! You will do great and those are some good sized babies! Mine were around 5 lbs and came home with me two days later, born at 37/2
This makes me feel so much better! I had one of my singletons at 37 weeks and he was fine, but 36 just seems scary, although, my gut tells me they are ready to go. So happy to hear other mono/Di moms were induced at the same time.
CaliCarly77 - I sure hope my C goes that smoothly! I don't feel like I was able to walk after natural so soon. The Epi really took and one leg was numb forever.
Ah- less than 24 hours! I will be sure to post pics as soon as I can.
Thanks again everyone for all the info and experiences! I really do feel better.
My boys were born after 38 weeks, but I had a scheduled C section and I was a WRECK about it before hand. I was so stressed about it, but everything went so, so well. The first week after was really hard (I wasn't one of those women going for leisurely strolls the instant the IV was out, sadly), but after that things improved fast. I felt about 80% by 2 weeks out, and I was walking/jogging carefully by 3 weeks post partum. Once the babies are out all my worries flew out the window and I just focused on them, not worrying about the surgery and recovery. You're going to do great! Scheduled C sections are much easier on you than emergency sections. Good luck, and I can't wait for you to meet your babies!
How exciting for you!! I'll be in your exact same boat next week when I hit the 36wk mark with my mono/di babies. I've been reading birth stories from a ton of other twin mamas who delivered around that time, and it really seems like you can expect minimal to no NICU time (of course it's different for everyone). Good luck!!! Would LOVE to see an update to see how it went!

This exactly! Mine wasn't a scheduled c-section but recovery was very easy for me- once my cath and IVs were out I was up and around. My babies were born at 38 weeks and each weighed 5.5 lbs. They had no NICU time and went straight back to my room after the neonatalogist looked them over (even before me!) Those are great sizes good luck!!!
Hey there! Everything went really well today! I'm feeling pretty good, although I am heavily medicated. The boys are doing well, too. Drew Oliver came in weighing 6 lbs 4 oz and Ty Ryan was 5 lbs 8 oz. Neither have required NICU time, but Drew is in the regular nursery for monitoring.
The c section was pretty easy. The Spinal was a little rough and I was extremely dizzy for about 10 minutes, But outside of that, it was pretty awesome.
Re: So Nervous - C Section Thursday
I understand the nerves surrounding the C/S....knowing when they are coming is an emotionally-charged thing! T&Ps that all goes smoothly!
@jezebel57....did I miss your birth story? Either way, congratulations!!
