Cardio at home

Anyone have any good suggestions for cardio at home- we don't have a treadmill, etc and I need to get through the next month until I go back to work(when I can run at lunch). Our gym won't take infants until 3 months. Before baby 1 & 2 I ran marathons and did triathlons, but 3 years later those days are long gone(along with my fitness after doing next to nothing since my first pregnancy). All I can think of is jumping rope, anyone else have a creative idea.

Re: Cardio at home

  • What about intervals of jumping rope (great cardio), push ups, crunches, jump squats, lunges, burpees, etc. If you have weights you can mix in some work with free weights.

  • If you have an iPhone, I use the Nike Training Club app. I believe it was free, but they have some great circuit training workouts that definitely get your heart rate up. The only thing is, most require dumbells. Also, I haven't done this in a long time, so not sure if it's still available or what type of cable device you have, but we have Comcast and if you go to on demand under fitness or exercise, there is a section of workouts. Sometimes, Pinterest has some good at home workouts as well.

  • On Demand and You Tube both have workouts available for free - including cardio you can do at home for free.

There are also DVDs you can purchase (like the Jillian Michaels series) which don't require any equipment.

  • HIIT videos give me the most bang for my buck (youtube).

My other go to exercises (not all cardio) are: burpees, squat jumps, walking lunges, pushups, plank, dips

  • Check your cable, on demand menu. I have comcast and there is a ton on there!
  • dailyhiit.com or bodyrocktv channel on youtube
  • Jumping rope for like 15 minutes will make you sweat a lot.
Just don't overdo it or else you'll have knee injury or something.
