Can Someone Please Explain to me....

how piercing a baby's ears are trashy? I am not looking for a debate over this, just the thinking behind it. I always see this on here and cannot understand the issue. Thank you!

Re: Can Someone Please Explain to me....

  • i don't know about trashy but we aren't doing it because i refuse to poke holes in my dd's body w/o her consent.

  • Some people don't like it and choose to use the term trashy to describe their distaste of it.

I do not think it's trashy and honestly don't understand why some people are so against it either. Probably the pain factor.

  • I got my ears pierced at age 7 and found out with in a few weeks that I was allergic to metal.  Itchy bumps, ick.  If DD is allergic I don't want to do that to her this young.  I can get her 14k gold (not plated) but that get could get a bit expensive if she loses them.  I will let her decide if she wants to when she gets older.
  • I wouldn't say trashy, but I'm not going to get DD's pierced until she asks and is old enough to take care of them.

  • oh yeah. its trashy. i can't think of a bigger arrow towards a baby that says "my family is white trash" than earrings on a baby.

  • I don't think its trashy I just personally don't believe in getting it done until DD is old enough to want them pierced.
