Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Is this normal?

I'm a FTM and DS is 14 weeks old and here lately he only wants to take a bottle 4 times a day. We give him 6 ounce bottles. Is this normal? He was taking 5 bottles but at times wouldn't take the whole bottle. Overall he is a happy baby. Just didn't know if I should be worried.

Re: Is this normal?

  • May want to call your Pedi just to be safe.  I wouldn't worry.  As long as he pees, eats, and sleeps normally, he should be fine.  My LO just started back eating more.  He had a few weeks where he wanted to sleep more or was just satisfied.  Now, he's back and then some.. :)  Just keeps tabs on it.  Weigh him.  Also, as long as he's not loosing weight, he's probably ok.

  • I'd say it's probably pretty normal, especially where it's bigger feedings at one time. If you were only doing 4 oz each feeding, he'd obviously take more bottles. We're just about 5 months and taking 6-8 oz (depends on him) 5-6 times a day. He dropped his ounces a week or two ago, where he was only eating 5 oz or less 6 times a day, but he was getting lotsss of wet diapers. Just let him lead and if you don't feel comfortable with something, it definitely doesn't hurt to call your pediatrician. :)

  • He is formula fed
  • I think 24 ounces for a 14 month old is normal. I would be grateful for fewer feedings, especially if he is happy. :)
  • Oops- 14 weeks. That wouldn't be enough for a 14 MONTH old. :)
