  I don't have very many details from my own birth.

  
  

  All I know is that my birth happened pretty much the same way as it did with DD1: my mom's water broke, she didn't have any contractions, she needed something or other to get them started, then I was born. She can't recall if I was early or late but says I was "about right on time".

  
  

  Nothing funny or special, but what really strikes me is that back in the day, you could ask for a shot that would basically prevent your milk from coming in so you could go straight to formula feeding without having to deal with engorgement and leaky boobs. (My mom got the shot). I don't know if it'S the same everywhere, but I think they stopped making that an option about 15-ish years ago.

  Nothing exciting. I was a scheduled repeat c section. A couple weeks before the date my mom started bleeding. The song That's what friends are for was playing when I was born.

  My mom said she willed me not to come out, and therefore I didn't. It was an emergency c/s. She had fallen the day prior in the snow but needed to finish her christmas shopping so when they told her to go straight to the e.r. she finished her shopping instead.

  My mom went into "false labor" twice in the month before I was born. The closest hospital was over an hour away, so they went to the hospital 3 times before she actually had me. The day she actually went into labor there was a snow storm. Not sure how long they let her labor but they ended up delivering me in an emergency c section because my heartrate kept dropping. Turns out the cord was wrapped around my neck. My mom was completely under when I was born and had horrible hallucinations. She remembers "traveling through her veins". She was disappointed when she woke up to find she was the last the know I was a girl and to hold me.

  I was 10 days late.  When my mom finally went into labor, the doctor told her it was going to be a while and sent her home.  So, fearing she would run out of things to read, she went to Kmart to get a couple new books.  The check out lady took one look at her and started shouting, "Awww, lordy, let's get this girl outta here quick, we don't want her having no babies in the store!"  My mom was appalled and got out of there as fast as she could!
  
  The labor and delivery was pretty straightforward.  My dad was funny...he was so blase even though it was his first child being born.  He spent half the time napping in a chair, and the other half reading a newspaper or wandering around for coffee.  My mom was mad then, but she laughs about it now

  We were premature(me and my brother) he was 4lbs and I was about 3. She delivered us vaginally, yes my mom was a super hero. Back then that didn't happen too often with twins. My brother suffered partial deafness and I was born with club foot and had surgery immediately. I cannot believe she had 7 kids!
