Just wanted to see if any of the STM's had an experience with this or not. (trying to calm my paranoid mind )
We had our anatomy scan this morning and they said everything looked great and normal, but the intestines were much brighter on the u/s than they should be. The Dr said that this could be a sign of cystic fibrosis, but I tested negative as a carrier, or a soft marker for Downs, which I don't have any other markers for and my NT/Quad screen came back with a 1/10000 ratio, so very low odds. He said there were some other things that this could also be a marker for that he didn't get into, but that more in likely there had been some bleeding that just didn't show on my end but stayed in the amino fluid and was digested so is showing up in the intestines. He said 99% of the time it's nothing and they are having me come back in 6 weeks for another scan just to see how things are. Has anyone else had any experience with this? He told me to not Google because I will get a lot of information that most likely doesn't pertain to me at all and sounds scarier than the situation really is, and to not worry. But, I of course am worrying a little more than I should right now
Do your best to just go with the facts. You tested negative for cf and your odds of downs came back extremely rare. Stay away from google. Every time I jump on there, I regret it!
I have no personal experience, but for everyone I have heard this happen to, it has been from a SCH that wasn't detected previously and the baby ingested a little blood.
Good luck!

Thank you @pantherRN, I didn't even think of that possibility.
And you definitely are right, @b55c , I've learned to avoid Google at all costs. I was actually really thankful they recommended that because that is the first place I would have gone. The facts are definitely what I need to keep my head focused on!
@pfeilele I had the flu a couple of weeks ago, and a horrible cough that lingered until just last week, I'm not sure if the two would be related or not?
I have no personal experience with DS, but my sister who was pregnant at the same time had a scare at her anatomy scan. My nieces kidneys and heart showed white spots then and again when they did the recheck. They had NICU on standby at birth, but she ended up being perfectly fine. They checked her kidneys and heart and there where no abnormalities. Not intestines, but a odd thing that appeared in the scans. Hope that helps ease your mind just a bit.
Fingers crossed its nothing and your next scan comes back with baby looking like it should!
Somewhat similar experience. We were told at our A/S with DD that she had 2 clubfeet. We went for a Level II follow up U/S a week or so later and they confirmed at least 1 clubfoot, likely 2. We had another follow up a month later and the doctor said maybe 1, maybe none. She was born with 2 perfectly normal feet.
We also had a growth U/S 6 days before she was born that estimated her weight at 5.5 lbs. We had another the day she was born (didn't realize she would be born that day at the time) and it estimated her weight at 5.10 lbs. She was 4 lbs, 14 oz 3 hours later.
All of this is to say, ultrasound can give you some good information, but it can also give a lot of incorrect information. There's really no way to know until the baby comes out. I don't put a whole lot of stock into ultrasound diagnosis anymore after our experiences. Try to stay calm!
BFP#2 7/3/13. U/S at 6w4d showed 1 heartbeat at 127 bmp and 2 empty sacs. MMC discovered at 10w4d. D&C 8/27/13. Pathology showed normal boy. Missing our babies every day. BFP#3 10/29/13! Beta#1 at 4w5d - 2141, beta#2 at 5w1d - 7651! U/S 11/21/13 showed baby measuring 2 days ahead with a heartbeat of 127 bmp!
I know how hard it is not to worry. We shed a LOT of tears after our "diagnosis" and spent a lot of time and energy worrying about how to deal with clubfoot, worrying what other genetic issues could also be present (apparently clubfoot happens a lot with spina bifida and other terrible problems), meeting with specialists, etc. In the end it was all for nothing but definitely put a huge damper on the rest of my pregnancy. Try to put it out of your mind as best you can for at least the next 6 weeks. Easier said than done, I know!

Now I am wondering if I will have similar results from my a/s in just over a week (I go in for it at 18w2d) because I had an SCH.

Were you sick at all this pregnancy? If they were to see that on my upcoming scan, it would be due to the virus I have.
And yup. Don't Google. You'll have plenty of time for that if they suspect something is wrong, which most likely isn't the case.
Definitely hoping the next 6 weeks go by fast!
