Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Switching diaper brands...

Our DD is just about 19 months old. We have always used pampers swaddlers with her however my cousin recently switched to the Target brand Up & Up and I'm debating trying them out too! They are much cheaper than the pampers. Thoughts? Anyone have any good/bad experience with up and up??

Re: Switching diaper brands...

  • I love Up & Up...we use Huggies or Up & Up, depending on what I have a coupon for or what is on sale.  They're not as soft as Huggies or Pampers but they do the job.  They are cheaper and if you have the Cartwheel app from Target on your phone, you can usually get 5-10% extra off.  Occasionally, I can get Huggies cheaper with Target's sales and coupons.

  • DD can wear just about any diaper brand and I've been impressed with up and up! We never had any leaks or anything, but I agree with pp that they aren't as soft.

  • Dd leaks at the crotch in every brand except luvs. With the target ones they didn't last through the night.
Now my friend swore by them with all 3 of her kids. I think you'd have to try them to see if they work to know for sure.

  • We went from Pampers to the Sam's Club brand. It is great! Not as soft, but no leaks or allergies. DD wears size 6 and we pay about 21 cents per diaper.

  • I bought up and up on a good deal and wish now we didn't have so many. Our son is leaking after his nap and absorption is poor for us. We are going back to pampers and we use Huggies overnights at night.
  • I recently switched to Up and Up for daytime use, and I think they are a good deal for the savings, but really not quite as absorbent as Huggies or Pampers.  We use the Pampers overnights for bedtime and they are amazing, no other diaper can handle LO's night time pee!

I'll probably move back and forth between Huggies from Costco and Up and Up, depending what's on sale because I think they are comparable.  However, I feel like the swaddlers are still the best for newborn and infants, and we'll use those when DD#2 arrives in March.
  • Pretty sure DD is allergic to up and up. Every time I've tried them she gets bad diaper rash that gets worse throughout the day, even with a good diaper cream application every change. We use Luvs and Huggies for overnight.
  • I made the switch from Pampers to Up and Up. Get the Target app (Cartwheel) it's always an additonal 5% if not 10% off. The cases of diapers go on sale for sometimes $24 or $26 and if you buy two they have a promo where you get a $15 or $10 gift card depending on the sale price. I stock up at these sales.

We've only had a couple leaks..mostly when DD was sick and I believe any brand would've had the same issue.

I'm just not a fan of their wipes!

  • We use Up&Up for daycare since they are cheap they have to change kiddo every 2 hours anyway, so absorption is not our biggest worry. Might as well use the cheapest workable diaper. Most of the kids in LO's room use the same.
  • We use Up & Up during the day and love them.  She wears Huggies overnights and they work great too.  She gets a terrible rash that lasts for days if we use Luvs.

  • My favorite are the luvs but up & up are cheaper so I tried them. My dd was in between size 3 and 4 so maybe it's because they were a little big but she had Diarrhea from teething and it leaked every time. Once that stopped we never had anymore leaking.
  • Thanks everyone! I never made it to target so ordered pampers off amazon instead. The convenience is just too good! I did order the cruisers this time instead of swaddlers. We'll see. I may try them but she's almost potty trained so I don't think we have much longer in diapers anyways.
