I made a personal decision to give up coffee, and even stopped before getting pregnant. I would say I used to be addicted, and I do miss it. But I didn't like the feeling of "needing" it every damn day. That being said, I know a cup a day fine by most standards. So I'm not judging anyone.
I get to work this morning, and there's a Starbucks grande nonfat vanilla latte on my desk from a coworker. Of course. Sigh...I guess I'm treating myself today and I'll probably be bouncing off the walls from a caffeine high since it's been several months! Hopefully this isn't me going back down a slippery slope lol.
I did last time when I was nauseous throughout the first trimester, but started getting headaches in the second trimester. My midwife recommended adding caffeine back in and headaches went away.
I limit to two small cups each morning, still waiting to see if nausea strikes with this pregnancy.
I've given it up but not by choice. Coffee was the first thing this pregnancy to make me unbearably nauseous which SUCKS because I was a 4-6 cup a day drinker prepregnancy. I am hoping to get my taste for it back once the nausea passes. I even tried going to Starbucks this morning thinking maybe it would taste better than the coffee I drink at work. No dice.

I had to give it up because every time I smelled it I almost puked! I am normally a coffee addict with no shame! I can't wait til my second tri so I can have it again!!!
Yes but only because it nauseated me as of week 6!!! Switched to a hot chocolate because I'm craving chocolate and want something hot in the morning!
This is me. I was an avid coffee drinker until it suddenly made me nauseated around week 6 as well. I'm going to have to try this hot chocolate thing though!
With others that I gave it up, but not my choice. I cut down to a cup every other day (alternating with decaf), until about 6 weeks when the smell would make me want to yak. I am still having some caffeinated beverages (mostly hot chocolate and chai tea latte in the Keurig), but will reintroduce when I can.
I am also trying some herbal teas, but having a hard time between those that make me sick and those that are not safe because they have ingredients that used to be used to induce miscarriage. I am sure the quantities are totally off, but I am now completely neurotic about reading herbal tea labels.

Nope - but I've cut down a LOT. It was not as hard I thought it would be. I usually drank about 1/2 a pot or more a day (more on weekends), but I'm down to about a cup or less a day.
I have...mostly given it up. I had a serious habit, though. Today was the first day I had a coffee (and I ordered half-caf) all week. The headaches are gone now, which is nice!
I'm with you...coffee made me instantly sick it was one of the first things that I ate/drank that made me instantly want to vomit! No more coffee for this chick
im actually very jealous that it doesnt make you nauseas! From 6 weeks on, I could not even smell it without getting sick. I loove coffee too.. Im looking forward to when I can tolerate a cup/day!
I don't drink it every day but I find the days I do drink it, I only drink about half of the cup. I've been so thirsty this pregnancy, I am constantly chugging water.
It's amazing how the terrible combination of crazy-woman hormones and morning sickness can make me go cold turkey on coffee. Happened with my last pregnancy, too.
BLECH. The mere thought of a cup of coffee has my stomach rolling right now. I used to be a 3-4 cup/day kinda girl.

I haven't had non-decaf coffee since I was pregnant with my first, so about two years. I never went back to it after I had DD because I was nursing and she is such a lousy sleeper that I am not interested at all in seeing what she might be like on even a little caffeine! I hardly ever miss it, but lately, DD has been up at 5 a.m. or so, and it's kind of killing me; a little real coffee would be nice.
I switched to decaf when I have the option (i.e. at work or starbucks), but still do regular at home on the weekends since I don't want to brew two pots and we don't have a Keurig.
ETA: I should add, I don't generally drink it for the caffeine, but the warmth! (or cold in the summer when I live on Iced Coffee on weekends!)
No, I gave it up for the first couple weeks because the thought of it turned my stomach. Someone on here posted about trying it iced and it worked! I'm back to drinking coffee every day and feeling so much better!
I gave it up because I only was drinking 1-2 cups a morning to begin with, and it wasn't so tough to withdraw from that. Once my m/s kicked in, though, I now know that I would've had to give it up anyway! Ugh, it so does not appeal to me right now. Enjoy that vanilla latte for those of us who wish we could right along with you!!
I did give up my morning cup, but because it was adding to the nausea. I'm still drinking a 20 oz. soda every so often. I try to save it for those times I feel like it's caffeine or death.
Coffee sounds so unappealing to me now! I cannot possibly give up my iced tea though. I'm from the South so it runs in my veins! :P I've cut back though and made sure to drink extra water to make up for extra tea lol.
I have one cup of half cafe every day for breakfast. Then I drink water and decafe tea the rest of the day. Once a week I let myself a full octane cup of Tim Horton's coffee. I did stop drinking soda a while ago though. I would say I have one diet soda a month or every other month now.
Re: Coffee
Ps: this coffee tastes amazing. I'm
trying to just nurse it all morning and not chug it haha
