Amazon Mom and Registry Completion Discount Question

All over my Amazon baby registry it says "Join Amazon mom and get 15% (instead of 10%) off for your completion discount!" So the first three months are free, but then you have to join Prime for $79 a year to continue getting the benefits?
I can't link to the actual page b/c it's a pop-up, but under "learn more about Amazon Mom" it lists the benefits of the free trial period (and doesn't mention the 15% off registry,) but then when it lists the benefits of it once you pay for it (after the 3 free trial months) it ADDS "15% off registry completion."

So my question, do you or don't you get the 15% off the registry while you are in the free Amazon Mom trial period? Or do you have to wait 3 months then pay for Prime to get it? Or, if you really wanted the discount, if you paid for Prime right away would you get it?

Re: Amazon Mom and Registry Completion Discount Question

  • I started the trial and just payed for it after 2 months of trial (we wanted all the streaming benefits).  I think you need to be an actual member to receive all benefits, including the 15%.   If you paid right away, you would get the extra discount.

  • thanks, that makes sense!

  • Also, if you have stuff to buy that you want to get now instead of waiting for the exact date you'll be 30 days from your EDD, you can change the date and apply the 10% discount now.

  • Lurking, but just wanted to let you know that not everything on  your registry is eligible for a discount.  It has to be sold directly from Amazon.  So for example an UBBI diaper pail wouldn't be on it.  Definitely add some stuff to your registry that is sold from amazon that you might benefit from even if it's not for the baby (post-partum pads).  For what it's worth, I love my prime membership and using the Subscribe and Save for diapers is very convenient.
  • yeah, I've been keeping that in mind and keeping an eye on it (since even sometimes products change who the seller is!) and I think pretty much everything I want to buy is from Amazon! (including the Britax stroller!) so I think I'm good there! Now I just have to decide *when* to use it... I have a shower in just over 2 weeks, so I suspect anyone who is going to buy something from Amazon already would have, so I have to also figure out if there's anymore "essentials" I might need, since I'd rather not wait til that close to my due date...

Oh sweet - I was pondering trying that yesterday but didn't know if it would mess up getting the discount at all.  There are a few things I want to order and was annoyed to have to wait another week.

@lalaith50 do you know if a lot of your shower attendees are Amazon Prime people?  Mine are and my registry went from full to nearly empty on the Wed before my shower.  Just a thought.
  • lalaith50 Have they given you the code? You can click on the link (without having to use it right away) to see what is on the list of things that qualify. I was honestly really surprised & disappointed at what didn't make it into the discount list.
yup, :-) Just like it says, everything that's sold by Amazon seems to be coming up.

  • I've got a question about this too... I'm less concerned about the 10% or 15% off and more want the prime shipping. If I subscribe for the amazon mom free trial, do I get the benefits of free 2-day shipping right away?
