I have multiple friends who swear by them. It seems every picture of their toddlers involves an amber necklace.
Never tried them myself. Tylenol on the worst days before bedtime and lots of cuddles has gotten us through the worst of teething, but my mom friends love them. One woman's used it with all six of her kids, so she certainly thinks its worth using!
Ours seems to help some but even on the days when the teeth are cutting thru we still have to give motrin. I was willing to give them a shot and am glad I did. We have a darker colored polished one and I've learned since that the lighter colors and unpolished are suppose to work best.
DD has been wearing hers for months and I swear it works. I know one mom who says her son got no relief but I feel like it's not a huge expense to give it a shot. Make sure you're ordering the real thing and not plastic.
So for those that use them, do you leave them on all the time? Just during the day? I'm pretty sure my DC lady would veto it while he's there and I'm not sure about leaving it on overnight.
I have one, I don't put it on DS every day, and I'm not 100% sure it works but sometimes it seems to a little bit. They aren't very expensive so like pp said it doesn't hurt to try.
I honestly think it's magic! My daughter only has her bottom 2 teeth. The top 4 keep teasing us, but won't pop through. When she cut the bottom 2 and once when the top 4 were moving, she was a complete mess! Since I got the necklace she hasn't acted like her teeth bother her one bit. There is one tooth on the top that is so close to popping through and I wouldn't even know it by the way she acts. I leave it on her all the time except for baths. At night I put it around her leg, but leave it on her neck all other times.
We use one, and I do think it helps. When her first teeth cut through she was still a bit of a mess, but I could tell the difference in days she wore it vs when she didn't (DH is great at forgetting to put it back on after a bath). I leave it on all the time except baths as well.
I did use it and still try to when I can. DS figured out how to pull it off and chew on the beads. Before he started pulling it off I kept it on all day and naps - taking it off for bath and some nights. I let him sleep in it a few times. I definitely can notice a difference especially right now. He is teething really bad - fever, runny nose, diarrhea, etc. I decided to give the necklace a shot in hopes that he wouldn't rip it off. He has kept it on for the most part and boy does it make a difference. He still doesn't feel great and we have been giving Motrin here and there, but he seems less upset with the necklace on vs. off.
I just looked them up online. I'm confused, they don't actually chew on them?
No, the amber is supposed to react with body temperature or something like that and help deal with inflammation and pain. Amber actually has healing powers and can help with migraines too.

DD has been wearing one since she was about 4 months old 24/7. She's cutting tooth #3 right now and has been remarkably pleasant. I had her in to see the pediatrician because she spiked a high fever just before new years and as soon as she was undressed, the pedi was raving about her necklace and how she tried it on her kids too and swore it made a difference. Plus - they're kind of adorable.
Yes! A baby with a necklace is just the cutest thing ever. I love when people make a comment (not realizing what it is) that I'm accessorizing my baby already
