timing of A/S ?

So in addition to seeing my OB every month, I also see a perinatologist every month due to high risk. I have an appointment next week with the perinatologist, which I thought was my normal monthly appointment. They informed yesterday that in addition to to my regular ultrasound and blood pressure monitoring, they will be doing the A/S. My question is I will only be 17w4d, is that too soon? We are Team Green therefore not concerned about sex, however if they are checking the all the vital organs etc, shouldn't it be scheduled for a closer to 20weeks?

I will call later when the office opens, but I didn't think of the timing of it all until late last night.

Re: timing of A/S ?

  • The a/s is often done as early as 18 weeks; they probably think you're close enough.

  • Thanks, I did measure a few days ahead at my last appointment but they did not change my EDD. I guess that could be part of it as well

Yeah, my A/S is scheduled for the day I turn 18 weeks, so if you're measuring ahead, that's probably what they are figuring  :)

  • My place wants yo at 19-20 weeks no matter what for the best chance to see and measure what they need, not really related to finding out sex or not.

  • I also go to a perinatal office monthly and I will have an u/s on Monday when I am 16 weeks 6 days but they are calling it 2nd tri screen and then I will still have what they consider my a/s at 20 weeks. I get an u/s at every appt. there though.

  • We are doing ours in perinatology at 18w1d, technically I'll be 17w6d because I'm measuring 2 days smaller, but I was told I might have another at 20 weeks... Not sure if that will be with my OB though. I would think you're close enough, and they'll do another one if they think they need to.
  • Mine will be at 19w :)
