  • Mine are always in the normal range. Now when i measure myself at home for fun, i measure a week or two ahead, which makes since now

  • They haven't bothered with fundal height this pregnancy at all. Baby is measuring 4ish weeks ahead right now and was estimated at over 6 pounds at 32 weeks.
  • At my 32 week growth scan the baby was estimated at 4.9 lbs give or take 20%.  At my 28 week appointment my fundal height was measuring 4 weeks ahead and that was the week I was diagnosed with GD, but at 32 weeks I was only measuring 2 weeks ahead.  Maybe the new diet and monitoring of the GD have gotten the baby back on track?

  • My fundal height measurement is always exactly equal to number of weeks.
    I've been 28cm at 28 weeks, 30cm at 30 weeks.
I expect I will be 33cm at my appointment today, and I'll be 33 weeks tomorrow.
  • At 31 weeks I was measuring 34 for my fundal height. I had an ultrasound and he was measuring 1.5 weeks big at 4lbs 11 oz. that was a few weeks ago now so I'm not sure where I'm at. No GD here. My DH was 12lbs when he was born so they're monitoring me closely.

How do you figure out the measurement at home (inches vs. weeks)?

    Centimeters vs weeks yes!

  • My fundal measurements are always on track.

  • Update: OB just took new measurements at my 33 week appt and fundal is now at 35 weeks! Told me to totally cut out sugar alternatives.

  • My dr does the fundal measurements but never tells me if I am measuring on track, behind or ahead. At the ultrasounds I had at 32w4d and yesterday at 34w3d they measured head, belly, and extremities and determined each time he is measuring about 1.5 - 2 weeks ahead right now.

  • My fundal measurements put me at 37 weeks (currently 33). My OB said, "ummmm let's see if we can get you in for a growth scan today!"
Growth scan was a little better at 35 weeks. Baby is weighing about 5 1/2 pounds.
  • My fundal height was the reason they wanted me to do a growth scan a couple weeks ago.  She didn't give me the actual fundal height number, but the comical yet concerned face she made told me all I needed to know.  I'm a FTM, so no fall-back experience, but I know I felt huge.  Last scan on the 17th said baby girl was 7 pounds 2 ounces and was measuring about 3 weeks ahead. I have another growth scan this Friday to see if she's slowed her ridiculous growing down at all since I was diagnosed with GD and have been on the diet and monitoring for 2 weeks now.  I feel like I've gotten bigger since the last scan though.  Well, I feel like we *both* have grown, and probably more than they wanted to see.

I'm getting to the point where I feel like I need a muumuu to cover up properly as my shirts are just getting shorter and shorter, and I still have a dang month to go.

  • I just had a growth scan this morning at 34 wks. I'm measuring at 35 on the u/s and my fundal height was also a week ahead at my doc appt last week so at least that's consistent with the u/s. Baby is 6lbs based on the u/s though. I'm being sent for another 3 hr glucose test to be sure I didn't develop GD in the last month. (My last 3 hr levels were very normal)

  • Nope! My fundal height has been exactly on week each time. Baby measured 1.5 weeks ahead on growth scan.

  • My doctor always gets a little smirk on his face that kind of makes me want to slap him when he measures my fundal height. Weirdness aside, I always measure a week ahead, and the anatomy scan said she was about 5% above average (I have no idea what "average" is, but I'll take it as a piece of information and move on.)

Luckily no GD here (I literally just took my glucola test a week ago), but I cannot lie on my back anymore for very long because it makes it hard to breathe. That's a relatively new development.

  • I've only been told my fundal height once, and it was about a week or two ahead. The baby's weight today is also about that far ahead. Since I had an IUI, though, I know pretty much when conception was, so it's just a big baby, not one that's more developed than I thought.
  • @ceecee312, that sucks that you have to do another 3 hour test!!  I'd lose my mind if they made me do it a second time! I hope you pass again!
  • @ErinE683 Agreed! I'm not looking forward to it. at. all. But I'd rather be sure than have undiagnosed GD. Anything for this little face! ❤️ (He was rubbing his eyes)

  • My boy has Been measuring 2 weeks ahead from 28 weeks, am now 34 weeks, and at 33 weeks I was 2 weeks ahead still. I haven't had an estimated weight or scan since 20 weeks though - that's not common here in New Zealand!

But what I was wondering is if there is a link between fundal height being up and having GD?

  • I always measured ahead for fundal height but it was fluid (and baby measures small). My new practice doesn't measure, but I don't think it has changed in a long time and has actually decreased. Again AF related.
