I usually use powder or pencil eyeliner (I'm afraid of liquid) but it always smudges! Granted, I usually purchase the cheaper brands, most recently elf, but ugh! I hate walking into a bathroom to see have black smudges under my eyes! Anyone have a foolproof eyeliner? Throw in your fave mascara as a bonus.

I use a MAC pearl glide intense eye liner pencil. It is creamy but doesn't budge unless you're purposely smudging it. I never have issues with it under my eyes, etc.
For mascara I am hooked on Lancome Hynose doll lashes.
NYX. All their eyeliners work great. And my favorite mascara for daytime is Cover Girl clump crusher (green tube). For nighttime I LOVE New York Color, I think it's called max volume, The one in the Orange tube. And yes, this is the four dollar crappy drug store mascara. It's so good for the price.

You should know how great things were before you. Even so, they're better still today.
Now I can't think who I was before you ruined everything in the nicest way
I have used Mabelline's Ultra Liquid Liner since high school, its the only drug store makeup I still use. It's like a very tiny brush, it take practice, but it stays on, and it's really easy after you get used to it.
Use an eye primer if you have some, then take a pencil liner first and draw a line super close to your lash line (if I pull my eye a little, I can line inside my lashes). That will ensure you won't have skin showing between your lashes and your liquid liner.
Then, use the liquid liner and go over your pencil. Depending on what I want, I'll either keep lining my eye with the liquid to make it thicker or I'll keep it thin.
Then you can just flick the liner out a little to make a small cat eye, or I draw the outline of a big cat eye and just fill it in.

My favorite pencil eyeliner is YSL Waterproof eyeliner - I get no transfer from this one onto my eyelids as long as I give it a second with my eyes closed before opening after applying.
But, I also love Urban Decay 24/7 and Tarte eyeliners. I second Diordra with the Marc Jacobs gel eyeliner. But I love, love, love the Marc Jacobs Blacquer liquid pen eyeliner and can't recommend it enough over other pen/liquid eyeliners. It is pricey, like $30.00 but seems a good portion and should last a while. Sometimes I put it on OVER the pencil eyeliner and it does not budge for 2 days, literally, if I am too lazy to take my eyeliner off.
Benefit They're Real mascara is awesome and doesn't flake, clump or smudge and I also like Smashbox Full Exposure.
