TB Ads

TB's targeted ads( the ones to the side of the forum----------------------->) suck. They are always showing me formula ads "for supplementation" that say things like "your baby is hungry! learn to bottle feed!" which just pisses me off.

And I see ads for some role playing video game with lots of busty women in it that are clearly meant for men. Really?

What do you see?

I've seen that one about baby being hungry, so learn to bottle feed. That's a really horrible ad and infuriates me too. Mothers should not be made to feel that their milk is insufficient or that they cannot satisfy their baby. If baby is hungry and they're struggling with breastfeeding, it would be much better for them to have good support and encouragement than to be handed a bottle.

There is nothing wrong with bottle feeding by choice or need, but that ad could be very damaging for mothers who want to breastfeed, could do so with proper support, but are struggling. Ok, off soap box.

...in other news, I see ads for some cervix measurer thing (weird), oralB, and Graco. Lol

I'm mobile and this Madela Breast pump shit is at the bottom of my screen. When I'm scrolling down I accidentally touch it and it pops up. Yesterday it somehow opened and it wouldn't close so I had to delete the app because all I could see was the advantages of using this breast pump for your baby.

I have a Gymboree ad. The one you all are describing that says your "baby is hungry" outrages me. I get that formula =/= poison, but that ad copy is horribly manipulative and clearly meant to prey on the fears of exhausted, worried postpartum women. Honestly, I'm tempted to write that company a letter (and maybe one to TB, too).

My ads are always based on places I've shopped in the past. Currently Gymboree and Babies R Us... But I see at least one destination maternity add a day and I haven't shopped there in a really long time. But thanks for the reminder TB.

Today I saw an ad for BRU and Target. Most days I see an ad for maternity clothes. That one pisses me off. I've never bought maternity clothes and obviously since I'm on TTGP I don't need them. Some days it's harder to see that ad than others. I really don't want to log on here and see some woman's bump in a cute maternity top.

BioEden - tooth stem cell banking for your kids? Creepy name.

Last week was an absolutely terrifying foot fungus ad. I have never had nor googled anything related to foot fungus. It was super graphic and I almost started a thread, but didn't because I am lazy.

Not to insult anyone with foot fungus, but I can't see how it was necessary to put up such a graphic ad. If someone has it that bad, believe me they know it!

These ads irritate me. The kicker is the delightful emails that TB sends me for "new mommy must haves" and "great pregnancy deals". What the hell is that?!

I have Ad Block Plus on Chrome on my laptop, so I don't see anything now. However, when I mobile bump, like normal, the one I usually see if for breast pads (for breastfeeding, which I've never done in my life), or some cervix-measure-r. Fucking weird.

ETA- It makes me wonder, do cigarette companies advertise on lung cancer websites? Does Effen vodka advertise on the AA page? Somehow I doubt it....
