Trying to Get Pregnant

I'm new! An introduction.

Hi ladies,

I am new to this forum and someone suggested I go ahead and introduce myself. I feel a bit silly that I didn’t think to do that right away, because I wouldn’t go asking strangers on the street for their advice, but it honestly didn’t occur to me. So for starters, my name is Emily.

Anyway, my husband and I are college sweethearts. We met at the end of my freshman year because my friend just kept going on about him and I decided I needed to meet him! We got married in 2012 and decided this past fall to start TTCing at the end of December. Well December came and I had a terrible ear infection so we ended up waiting until this month to start.

As far as preparing myself in October I switched to prenatal vitamins and schedule a physical and went in for my annual with the obgyn. The obgyn gave me the go ahead the physician did as well, but ordered blood work first. When she did the blood work she found out I have very low vitamin D and high cholesterol. I decided to work on diet and exercise for the cholesterol because I hadn’t really been being particularly careful about what I was eating. And so for the last few weeks I have been working very hard to focus on clean eating. I’ll admit it’s hard but mostly because I just don’t understand what I can eat. It’s amazing the foot you put in your mouth every day having no idea what some the ingredients are.

On a more personal level, I am a CPA for a local accounting firm and right now I’m working about 55 hours a week. It’s ROUGH, but no job is without its challenges.  I love to play board games and on most nights you can find me under a blanket either watching Netflix or reading. I’m not much into sports but for exercise I typically like to go on jogs. I am working on building a relationship with Christ more and more each day, something that I can thank one of my best friends and my husband for. It’s hard to ignore the rational part of my brain but nothing beats having faith and watching it work.

Oh and I love the color pink and work very hard each day to be a happy person, but it can be a struggle.

I hope this is enough info to allow you to get to know me.  Any other questions just ask!

Ohho, another CPA on the board. Well, have I got a suggestion for you! Get a basal body thermometer (referred to as a BBT on here) and start taking your temperature every morning before you get up. You can chart it on fertilityfriend.com, they also have an app for your phone. That will tell you exactly when you ovulate each month.

I find that it really fits well with my love of data and charts...if you want to see an example, there's a link to my chart in my signature.

  • Haha! Are you a CPA too? That's so fun... I've heard people talk about them on vlogs on YouTube I'll have to
  • Yup, I left public accounting two years ago for internal audit. So I don't have to deal with busy season anymore, just a lot of travel.

There are a strangely large number of CPA's/Accountants on this board, though they might all be too busy to post right now ;)

  • Oh I totally should be too busy to be on here but I had a stressful night last night and I needed to talk to others in a similar situation because I was just sitting at my desk staring at numbers wanting to throw up :P plus we got 6 inches of snow last night so noone is really in today, boo!
You are lucky to have left the hrs behind!

Welcome @ed16564!  I'm a CPA too, and I agree about loving the data and charts from temping and using FF.  I started doing it and said I'd only do it for 2-3 months so I could get an idea of when I ovulate, but now I'll probably have to keep doing it :)

I worked for a public accounting firm for 6+ years and then made the switch to industry a few years ago.  Definitely like the hours better, but public accounting was more fun, it its own sick way.

    Good luck!

I think I mainly liked always working in a conference room with a group instead of alone at my cube, and we always had a lot of joking around that went on.  I definitely have never laughed so much while as work as I did during that time.

  • See I'm funny about my space! Sometimes they shove us in tiny spaces! But you're definitely right about the joking and comradery.

Honestly, I miss the pressure. The hours were so, so bad though. I've talked about going back to my DH, but he's not hearing it.

Trying to have baby #1 since April 2013

DH SA March,May 2014 - Low motility and shape issues. On vitamins per RE to help

Me testing April 3, 2014 - FSH and LH good, HSG showed blocked right tube

April 29, 2014 - First RE appt., right tube needs to be removed and possibly left also if

it's bad too. RE suggests going straight to IVF

June 4, 2014 - LAP/HSC and unexpected endo. removed but tubes got to stay!

June 13, 2014 - Post-Op appointment. We decide where to go next since main issue

is MFI influenced. Trying naturally until decision... Repeat SA  in September. Aiming for IUI #1 November 2014.
