Though my MIL hasnt come right out and said anything I can tell shes worried about the shower. She tried (while not actually asking straight out) to see if my mom would cohost with her (my parents and most of my family live 3 hrs from here and my mom wants to have her own, not one somewhere in the middle) i can just tell shes anxious. If its about planning I dont think its a big deal, because BILs girlfriend is a party girl and would love to help her plan (we havent told them yet, we will this weekend) so honestly I think its about money. And I feel guilty, of course, bc thats my style. I thought about volunteering to do invites for her since my mom already asked me to do hers... any other ideas where i could gently help without seeming like a mamazilla?
Re: Any money saving shower ideas?
Balloons & a helium tank go a loooong way in color & decoration. Like PP said, Pinterest is awesome for this. I found this idea on Pinterest & it turned out awesome for DS2's party. I got 2 packs of balloons (yellow & blue) & a $20 helium tank from the Dollar General. I bought some colorful string & white golf tees from Target or WM. Inflate the balloon, try the string kind of long, tie it to the golf tee & it mashes quickly into the ground.
I lined my parents sidewalk & partial driveway with balloons by alternating every other color yellow & blue. It was super gorgeous & the balloons kind of danced in the breeze. It was the most simple & cost effective decoration we had. My cousin simply inflated balloons in her party colors, tied longish streamers to them & let them float along the ceiling. It was pretty also & gave tons of color to the party.
Like PP said, if you have it at someone's home decorations & etc can be so minimal because the home is already lovely. And yes, telling her that family & friends is more important than lots of decor will ease her mind a lot. She'd probably be thrilled for you to help with invites. GL!
A brunch shower would be so cute!
It's free to host at someones house, and it'll be super cheap to make some brunch foods (juices, bagels, breakfast casseroles, mimosas, fruit, coffee cake, etc.)
And you don't NEED decorations really, but dollar stores will carry tons of cheap decor stuff, like plates, balloons, etc.
