Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Chicken Pox? I really hope not.

My little guy has been getting red bumps. I checked everything he's eaten and it's all been stuff he's been eating for months so I don't think it's his food. He hasn't worn any new clothes or things that haven't been washed with baby detergent.

Any suggestions on trying to get the rash (hopefully not chicken pox) to go away? We're going to take him in tomorrow if it doesn't begin to look better.
The bumps are all over his stomach and a few on his neck. I can't remember how the Chicken Pox starts from when I had them 18-20 years ago...

He scratches a little when he's just relaxing or going to bed. I have been trying to keep him pre-occupied all morning so he doesn't itch.

Just looking for suggestions while I observe his behavior and the rash.

  • Could be anything.  Like PP said, it's possible it's a virus.  My daughter had a virus that we never knew she had until she broke out.  Turns out, that was the sign it was over and non-contagious.  It was gone in a couple days.  Call the Pedi.  If he is scratching, you could possibly use OTC 3% cortisone cream.
