SS: proud mommy moment

I'm bursting at the seams with mommy pride. Yesterday DS#1 committed to the Army. He's 17 and will graduate high school in May. I'm so proud of his decision to enlist. He's been training for two years in auto mechanics and he's enlisting as a wheeled vehicle mechanic.

Today, DS#2 finished his middle school wrestling season with a perfect 29-0 record with 25 pins. He also tied for the school record which was set in 1985. It's amazing to have a perfect season. He now holds Utah middle school 4a/5a State Championship Title & Utah Superstate 3rd place title from 6th grade year, Eastern Cincinnati Conference middle school 2nd place from 7 th grade year and Southeast Ohio Districts 4 th place and state qualifier, and Eastern Cincinnati middle school 1st place from his 8th grade year. The school season is over, but He qualifies for district tournament and an automatic invite for state tournament. I'm very proud of the hard work he's put in.

And...We had our anatomy scan today for LO- DS#3 and everything was great. He's quite a bit bigger than expected, but everything so far looks great.

Mine is that DD has been amazingly well-behaved this week. Sharing toys, picking up after herself, etc. it's so awesome to see that we are doing something right!

How exciting for your boys...and for mama! My proud mama moment happened yesterday. Sorry for the novel I am about to write

DD#2 is 6 and has some issues with mood instability and anxiety, to put it mildly. It's been a constant struggle for years. Her therapist has recommended multiple times that we try to find an "organized" activity for her to participate in to help with social skills, self esteem, etc. We've tried tap, ballet, clogging, soccer...she's hated them all. This kid has always loved to swim, and I grew up swimming competitively (I did so through college). The small town we live in just started a little developmental team and I asked DD if she wanted to try it. Usually it takes quite a bit of coaxing for her to try something new. She said yes without a blink! We were outta school yesterday so we went to the swim shop the next city over and picked out her suit, cap, goggles, and all the other goodies she needed...and then yesterday evening she had her first practice. My heart was so full it nearly burst and I cried through most of practice. It was emotional because not only is she starting something that was a huge part of my life for so many years; but she jumped in and just gave it her all, which is totally not like her. She was one of the youngest ones and was often confused on exactly what to do, but she just kept going and trying and listening to the coach, and after practice she was all smiles and thanked me for signing her up. I was just about the proudest mama ever!

Congrats to your boys!

My proud mommy moment is seeing how wonderful my DD is around her new baby sister (from her stepmom). DD was very nervous and anxious about having a sibling, but she is just absolutely in love with the baby. DD is so natural with her, holding her, talking to her, just overall a great big sister. I love seeing how sweet and caring my DD is, and I know she will be a great big sis to her brother due in June (even if she was disapointed that its a he and not a she lol)

@marcip83 As a former swimmer, I'm glad you found something for your daughter. It's an awesome lesson in self-discipline and perseverance. I swear my years of swimming got me thru labor.

@LilNunz1 ditto on the labor! We had held off on organized swimming with her bc there wasn't a local team, and then after it formed I was weary that she'd try it once and not like it and it would "ruin" her love of just play swimming. But I'm so glad we took the plunge (pun totally intended). Plus, I think she looks totally adorable in her swim cap

These stories make my heart happy. Hooray for all of us and our kiddos. I'm with @Lilygrace48 in the joys of toddlerhood. DD has always been a little on the slow side to talk but her vocab is just expanding with leaps and bounds. I swear she has a new word or two every day and I love it!

When I went to pick up DS at daycare this little girl who is almost 2 started crying (she wanted to wear the costume another little girl was wearing). There was a daycare lady right there to talk to her but DS abandoned me right away, ran to pick up her "lovey" blanket and then ran over and gave it to her at which point she instantly grabbed it and stopped crying. I've seen her all the time with that thing but I am impressed that DS took note and was caring enough to jump in that situation. I got a little teary at what a good big brother he is going to be.

@MarciP83 - That's so wonderful that your daughter found something that she loves! And that mother/daughter sharing is awesome too!! We did soccer and baseball with all the kids but they just were not in to it. My older son does boxing and really loves it. DD plays basketball (to appease her dad) but really loves running track, and obviously wrestling is the fave of DS#2. They all seem to prefer sports that force them to rely on themselves in a team environment.
