Baby bank account

Have you opened a bank account for your baby? If so, where? And what type of ID did you need to open it?

Re: Baby bank account

  • We haven't opened a savings account for her yet, but we have a whole life plan that comes up when she's 18, and a 529 plan.

  • I opened a savings account for Lily with Bank of America. I did it online and I think I had to have her SSN and my ID. It's a custodial account, so I have the control. I could add H onto the account, but we have to go to the bank to do that and haven't had the chance yet. I put $25 a month into it and all of her Christmas money went into it.

  • I opened up a savings account for my lo at the bank I work for.
  • I don't know if anyone is interested but my bank is offering a promo for kids accounts. It's a free account and they get $5 for opening a savings accounts. We have branches in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Indiana, Texas, Washington, D.C.

I'd be happy to send anyone interested the flyers for it.

  • We have a 529 and needed her SSN for now any money we get for her goes into that account. You do need identifiy information to open a bank account. It is part of the patriot act.

  • We have savings accounts for both kids and needed their SS numbers for those. We also have 529 plans for each of them.
