With dd1 I used a shield for 5 months (she was so stubborn about weaning from it) and that really lowered my supply so I started taking it. It boosted my supply a LOT but I also became semi dependent on it. It can get pretty expensive in the long run but it's still much cheaper than formula. I bought it in bulk from the website Amy shared above.
If you really need it, it's amazing and absolutely worth it... but I'd try fenugreek/blessed thistle/oatmeal/milk tea/milk cookies/drinking lots of water/nursing more often/etc first and save domperidone as a last resort.
