Mom fail... Again

While putting baby powder under William's neck after bath time tonight I tipped the powder up, only to give him a big mouthful of it. Oops. He looked at me like, "Why on earth did you put that in my mouth. It tastes horrible!" Share your moist recent mom fails ladies!

Oof! Not good for those little lungs. :( I can't seem to find the perfect bedtime for Leif. He has been super crabby the past couple nights, so I know it must be earlier than I've been doing.

  • Bedtimes are tough. We've sort have been going through the same thing with William coming to work with me... My shift starts at 6 a.m., so figuring out what's too early or too late is tough.

  • We've been having the same issue.  He used to go to bed at 9; we recently moved it back to 8... and now it is more like 7-7:30.  But part of the problem is that daycare is struggling to get him on an afternoon nap schedule.  His morning nap is fine, but he doesn't go down in the afternoon, and then he's a mess after dinner.  So frustrating.

  • Here's my mom fail this week.....we are working on letting LO put himself back to sleep in the MOTN rather than going in to rock or soothe him. Two nights ago he would not quit screaming, even after I checked to make sure he was safe ( no limbs stuck, etc). When I finally picked him up 30 minutes later, he had peed thru his diaper and soaked his jammies and even his sleep sack. Poor baby was wet and cold!

  • I was changing my LO and had to open the big part of the wipey container because the wipe fell back in. I didn't see him stick his fingers on the edge. I just kept trying to shut it, while he's wiggling all over, and the whole time I'm pinching his poor little thumb. He didn't make a peep. I felt like such an idiot! I could've kissed that thumb a million times.

  • The other morning after I changed Brayden, I put him on my side of the bed against the wall while I put his play mat down right next to hubby's side on the floor. While on the floor, I happen to look up to Brayden greeting me. His next crawling move ended up with him flipping off the bed but since I was right there on the mat, I was able to catch him. I had no idea he could crawl THAT fast in like literally 4 seconds. Lesson learned

  • For some reason my son likes to think that my drink is better than his even though it is the same thing (water). So instead of drinking out of a sippy cup he wants my water bottle. So I tired my best to do a little bit at a time into his mouth. Oh and before I used to give him some out of the cap.. but he hits it out of my hand and does not want it that way. Well, apparently I have Parkinson's because when I got to his lips my hand just lost it. His entire front was soaking wet... but he was happy and refreshed after that giant gulp.
Noah does the same exact thing! I just let him drink from my water bottle or cup and anticipate an outfit change :)

  • Annalynn finally figured out the crawling thing so she is all over the house checking things out.  Last night as I'm cooking dinner I hear a whine...she crawled under the kitchen table and stools and then tried to sit up...she conked her head on the stool legs and was stuck.  Silly baby.

  • I am pretty sure that both of my kids have had strep for about a month, and I just finally took them to the Doc.  My daughter who is 3.5 had a rash on her bum, which I thought was a diaper rash from her pull up being wet at night. Strep has been going around and around the babysitters house and we couldn't figure out how, until a friend of mine at work said that her daughter always got a rash on her bum when she had strep. So, I took her in yesterday and sure enough even with no fever, no headache, or sore throat, she AND my 10 month old have strep.
And to top it off, while we were there, I set my 10 month old on the floor in his carrier (unbuckled) so I could explain what was going on to the doctor, and he DIVES out head first onto the floor while I wasn't watching :).
  • These stories are great!
A few days ago, I was making a video of DS trying to get him to do all of his "tricks" (sticking out his tongue, giving kisses) He was army crawling and laid his head down on the floor, and rolled over. We were next to a bed and I thought he would just roll into it since it's pretty low to the floor, but instead he ducked his head and rolled completely UNDER the bed. I had to drag him out by his leg while holding his head down so he didn't bang it on the frame. I felt bad because I was sitting there recording him while he rolled under the bed. Ha! Of course I stopped as soon as I realized what happened. Made for a pretty funny video though.

  • @aprillomom -- ha! A week or two ago, DH was out of town for work and I was making a little video to send him of LO in his high chair, eating and clapping... so I'm kinda talking to him while spooning puree into his mouth and he starts coughing and I'm still taping/spooning/talking and then realized I'd just made a video of my child coughing while I continued to shovel food into his mouth.  Ha!
