Re: TTGP IF CHECK IN (Yes Late Again)

  • I promised myself I'm going to remember the QOTW this time b/c I always forget. So I'm going to do that first.

QOTW: How do you handle stress in your relationship: I'm someone that needs to talk everything out, then I need to think about things for no more than ten minutes, and then I'm done - I'm over it and I move on. I try to remember that we are not the same, come from totally different backgrounds and the goal for us is not to never have an issue, but to always improve our relationship when we do have issues - to use those issues as learning blocks to grow us closer together.

As far as IF, I was waiting out my period, and now it's back for a re-do HSG which will be later this week or Monday. I really am hoping and praying for a better HSG result, I'm not asking for perfect, but even an identifiable improvement from the prior one would give me hope - I want this so bad. If it's the same, then it's step 2 - laparoscopy.

Best of luck with all of you wonderful ladies this week!

  • Well I just did my HCG trigger this morning so now I guess we just have to have sex. I am kinda bummed 9 days of injection of Gonal and I got up to 100iu and I had only 1 mature egg. I had 9 others but they just didn't grow. I start progesterone Thursday and just wait it out.

Let me just say Ganirelix hurt like a MF going in and I'm bloated and sick of shots. This morning I almost cried getting my hcg shot. I'm an emotional wreck. If this month is a bust I'm definitely taking 1 month off. Well I say that today.

GTKY. I don't handle stress well, I shut everyone out. When we get to a breaking point my husband and I usually go to the Savannah house and destress. We seem to be going a lot here lately. Were going back again first of march.
    Fucking bump!!!!
  • It's been a while since I've updated here, so here it goes.

How long have you been trying to conceive? 11 months

Do you have a diagnosis? If so; what is it? DH has low T/hypogonadism

Are you currently doing any testing or treatment? See below

    Any updates?

Well, DH stopped Clomid because it worked and apparently his uro thinks he doesn't need it anymore. She sent him to an endo who he didn't like so we have another endo appt next week. Hopefully this one will go better because his T dropped in 1 month. He was at 590 in December and in January it was 413 (at the same time).

On the other hand, I went to the RE yesterday. I am starting 3 cycles of monitored clomid next cycle. We also discussed the possibility of IUI in a few months. DH is being weird about it, but I'll work on him in the meantime.

QOTW: How do you handle stress in your relationship? I'm a cryer too. It's how I handle all stress though.

  • Well I triggered last Wednesday. I am basically waiting for my period to start because my RE jumped the gun and triggered me with a 2mm lining. She has me on estrace 3x a day but I'm not sure what the point is now!

Qotw: we handle stress by being sarcastic toward each other. Sometimes it gets awkward!

  • @MeatandBandP - I'm sure every doctor has a different recommendation, but mine likes his patients to rest for at least two days after ET. Not bed rest, just nothing more than light activity (walking around or something like that). Then no strenuous activity or lifting during the 2ww. Traveling 7 days after ER seems like it's cutting kind of close. What if you do a 5dt? I'm not sure if they would want you to travel right after that. Or what if you were at risk for OHSS? Those are things I would be thinking about I guess.

ETA: I know I am getting ahead of myself but for those that have done IVF, if I do it before my April trip and the timing works out, I would potentially be on a girls weekend in Austin at 7 + days after the ER. Would you not want to be traveling after you had a transfer done? Does it matter?

@MeatandBandP- My big worry would be if you end up stimming longer and ET falls during your trip. My clinic has you on "bed rest" for the rest of the day after transfer and after that the only restrictions are no heavy lifting and I believe pelvic rest. I thnk you would be fine to travel (unless you end up with a complication like OHSS), the ET is pretty much like an IUI (only with a full bladder which is by far the worst part of the transfer), just be aware that dates of ER and ET really depend on how well you respond.

The other pain in the butt (pun intended) that I would have with traveling after ET is that I take PIO injections and my husband usually does them for me. Some women do it themselves, but I think it would be a little difficult. Hopefully one of your friends would be able to help you out if you are on PIO.

Yea I know there is a potential I would have to cancel my trip if I went through with it. I'm just ready to move on and these commitments are going to make it so we are delayed a month and will probably do IUI #5, and I know in the grand scheme of things its not that big of a deal but I am just so ready to move on. My Austin trip that I was so excited about is now weighing on me.
I'm sorry Meat. That's one of the toughest things about all of this for me too. I don't want to stop living my life because of IF, but in order to deal with it I feel like we have to put so much on hold. I really want this but I'm still sad that it's getting in the way of other things we'd like to do.

I know my clinic (and others I've heard of) will let you stay on BCPs for a few extra weeks if necessary. That might be something you could talk to them about. That way you could plan to go on your trip if you want to and then start a treatment cycle as soon as you get back. At least then you're not at the mercy of your natural cycles.

  • @SnakeFisherBub I'm sorry you have to resort to a RE, but mine has been lovely. I hope you get things all figured out!

I'm on Provera to restart my cycle, then we'll move on to Femara and a trigger shot. I'm kind of excited this cycle. At first I was sad that I was going to have to be medicated, but then I pulled out a calendar to find a potential due date to make this all seem more solid. If AF comes within 10 days of stopping Provera, and we trigger after 12 days like my RE's timeline suggested, my due date would be my birthday--if we conceive. It's lots of 'if's, but I'll take it.

QOTW: It depends on the stress. DH and I had an argument today, so I self medicated with donuts. I'm not legitimately angry often, but when I am, DH usually buys me flowers and we call it good. Sometimes I just give him the silent treatment, but he never notices lol, so I get over it within 24 hours.

Still all natural until our first RE appointment on March 5th which is also the 2 year mark of throwing the BC out. Hoping for a miracle to happen but I'm not holding my breath. SO is taking a bunch of vitamins that he started about a month ago. Maybe they will help his numbers but again not holding my breath.

Good luck to everyone on IUI and IVF cycles! May the odds be ever in your favor (yeah, I went there!)

QOTW: I have a bad habit of holding my feelings in until I explode. We typically bicker back an forth a lot but don't take it personal. I attribute it to us both being oldest children who think things should always be. However the Aquarius in me is much more go with the flow than his Scorpio temper. I typically give in so when I don't he knows I serious!

@KrissyLeighN I hope your HSG turns out better
@Pintobean39 I'm sorry this cycle is rough, I hope you start feeling better soon.

AFM, we met with the RE on Thursday and he's switching me to Femara 7.5mg+trigger+TI for the next few cycles. H and I decided that if we have no success on that, we will do the last cycle of Femara as an IUI. I feel relieved after spending so much time talking with the doctor about all of our options. So now just waiting for my period.

QOTW: I usually will try to get H to go out for dinner so we can spend time together and talk things out/reconnect.

Hello everyone I missed the last check in and maybe the one before too cant remember.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Update on my RPL testing showed the balance translocation (pretty much meaning one chromosome swapped a piece with another) Over health wise I am fine it really only impacts my eggs. Most of the time the eggs that I am making are containing not enough of on piece in a chromosome or an extra part. With my specific translocation some children are born totally normal, some with the same translocation as me (so totally healthy only troubles when trying to conceive), or there is something called Emmanuel syndrome. I am happy that I did not find this out later I would hate to know I would be the reason a child of mine would possibly have a disability.

I was given an option of IVF w/PGD, testing the embryos to ensure they have the right amounts of chromosomes and transfer back to me. Few problems is the cost of the test alone insurance needs me to first upfront the cost of $7500. Second problem is they have no way to determine if the embryo is totally normal or will have the same translocation as me, so I am then just setting them up for fertility troubles and I dont think I can live with myself when that time came. Lastly it isnt very likely even if I have a lot of eggs that there are enough to transfer back if any.

I am meeting with my RE again this week. I just feel like I am out possibly looking in to a direct egg donor program. We will see what the future holds for me. Good Luck to all of you ladies wont be aroung a whole lot while working on next game plan.

Stress! That is all I feel as of right now I usually handle it will but with what I am going through now I am an emotional roller coaster. Truly ups and downs every day I dont know how to cope with this stress. My SO is amazing supporting me through this right now.

Married in September 2010, started TTC journey November 2012

    Me-

    7 IUI- 2 CP- 2 BFN

RPL blood work 12/27, showed a balance translocation in chromosome 11;22

    Spouse-

    PCOS 4 IUI-4 BFN

New Plan: Reciprocal IVF, me as carrier wife's eggs. Just went through insurance and received partial approval, so my part will go through my IVF benefits and wife's part will be out of pocket. Now just finalizing finance plans to cover the oop costs. Doctors office is in process of moving to a new building so there are no IVF start ups until March/April 2015.

  • @kristi&p ((hugs)). I hope you can find a plan that you works for you and your SO.
