Medela Freestyle Pump FAIL

Ugh, $335 down the drain. It barely sucks, it's like a kitten licking my nipples. I only got out foremilk, I had to use the hand pump the get the rest out. It's going in the trash and I'm getting my hospital rental back tomorrow.

Hating life right now.

I feel like something may be wrong with your pump. I found barely any difference between the hospital grade rental (Medela Symphony) and my Freestyle (insurance issued).
Please don't waste that money, call Medela and see if they can troubleshoot with you!

ETA: I just looked up the freestyle, I thought that was what I had, but I guess mine is closer to a pump in style.
Not that it matters.

I have the medela freestyle and it works great... Maybe it is a flaw in that one?

I debated upgrading to that one, it would have been $100 through insurance. I took a look at the reviews for it though and there were a lot of women saying they hated it and went back to the PISA instead. I'd give Medela a call and try talking them into a trade since it sucks.

I felt the same way about it and then realized the tubing wasn't shoved in far enough to the flange part. It worked much better once I figured that out. Have you checked the connection?

Call Medela-they will troubleshoot but will send you a new one quickly. You will send a copy of your receipt and the pump you have to them. They replaced my PISA. I had the same issue and was hand pumping to get the milk out. Also Do the flanges fit you properly? That was an issue for me as well. Medela Sent me free flanges as well--they have excellent customer service.

I have the freestyle and have used it for over 5 years (off and on of course) and have never had any problems. I can only turn it up to level 6 or 7 max or it's too strong. I think you should call medela because yours is either a dud or you have tits of steel.

If it turns out it's just the way it is, I totally will send it to you. You would just have to sterilize the bits or buy a new set. Flanges and tubes and whatnot. @gweiners

I ended up renting the Medela Symphony and I love it way better than my PISA! Definitely call Medela though.

Call Medela!! The exact thing happened to me this morning! It worked great for a month and then this morning it hardly had any suction, it seemed like it was loosing air somewhere. I called Medela and they are Fedexing me a new one, I just had to scan and email the receipt. Good luck!

I have the pump in style advanced tote one and right around a month its started being total crap. Glad u posted about this. I'm going to contact medela tomorrow.
