I've got a case of the Tuesdays

I'm an art teacher who is 7 weeks along. This past week has been pretty nauseating with morning sickness galore. I have two huge art shows this week that require me to be up on ladders hanging and displaying over 200 pieces of student artwork with no assistance at all - I haven't told anyone yet about the pregnancy - apparently you're supposed to wait until the last minuet to tell your boss?? But I am super dizzy and nauseous Anywho - just trying to stay upbeat and positive - anyone else not stating up past 7:30pm? Crazy dreams and smells are driving me crazy - I don't want to eat anything - Cheerios and saltines are my only saving grace right now. Pregnancy is the best reason to feel like crap!

  • Thank you for sharing - out admin is on crazy crackdown for attendance - my friends who know think it would be a bad idea to let them know because they would start treating me differently - I'm not sure I understand that but everyone is telling me not to - I wanted to wait until I had my first appointment at least.

  • I am a teacher and Another teacher on my team is pregnant (due in Aug) and I know my principal is going to flip. I would like to wait till my principal assigns grade levels to tell, but I doubt I'll be able to get away with that. That should be in April.

  • Ugh today I'm just annoyed and tired and sad for some reason. My mom called this morning. I hadn't been answering because I hate questions. I yelled at her 3 times on the phone. I'm so mean. Ds seems to also be in an emotional mood today. We usually do story time at the library Tuesdays and it's -9 out so no thank you. Please winter be over!

For sure get some help! If I'm like this at home I. Can't imagine how you ladies are at work.

  • My hormones just totally freaked out my 4th graders - lol - it's hard to be patient for 30 screaming children when you feel sick
  • I'm sorry you're not feeling well.  I'm a teacher, too, and I just had a baby in September.  I used all my sick days for 6 weeks of maternity leave.  So next year, I'll only have my 12 days, and I'll have to just get docked pay because I WILL be taking longer than 2 weeks off.  I'm definitely waiting to tell my boss, too.  I'm sure he won't be happy.  I hate that part of being pregnant and being a working mom.

  • Luckily my principal's wife has just had 2 girls in the last 2 years, so he is super understanding.  It just sucks that we are due at the beginning of the year!
  • I'm sorry you're feeling bad! I had to tell my boss & coworkers earlier than planned because my sickness was starting to interfere with my work.  I had tried everything from ginger, saltines, eating every 2-3 hours... Even after a Zofran prescription, nothing helped.  I recently bought Sea-Bands (you can get them at CVS/Walgreens) - seriously, miracle workers :) I'd say they are definitely worth it!  I really hope that you get to feeling better & find some relief.  I know how hard it is trying to work & stay focused!

  • Thank you so much - I have been downing preggie pops but they haven't been doing much - crackers and Cheerios are all I can fathom right now - I am completely grossed out at the idea of meat of any kind - anyway - I almost told them today because the heat in my classroom is broken and it was 27 degrees in my room today which only made me feel achy and congested ontop of morning sickness it's a VERY demanding district that I'm in and my administrators could care less about "national recognition" I got written up for taking 3 sick days last year and I do more for my building than I care to get into - I am going to try to wait until my dr appointment in two weeks - sea bands are my goal for tomorrow - thank you for sharing I'm all about it
  • You're so welcome, I really hope that they work for you! & That sounds just like me.. I was getting so frustrated, it was to the point I didn't want to move an inch. Try eating crackers, dry cereal before getting out of bed in the morning I've learned has helped. And if you like teas, try Organic Morning Wellness by Earth Mama Angel Baby. I also keep peppermint & jolly ranchers on hand at all times for when I start feeling a little dizzy. Good luck!! I also hope things with your job start to get better as well :)
