Finally talking

Just in the last month Lucas has decided he wants to talk! Yay! It's so funny though him and Nathan still use their launge while playing most of the time, I wonder if they will always do some of that?

What's new with your lo?

That's great that your DS is finally talking Belle!

DD is starting to talk more but she is still not talking much. She has started incorporating a few more words into her small vocabulary but I wouldn't classify it as a language explosion. I love to hear her voice though! Other things that DD is doing these days:

    -loves spinning in circles

    -loves singing/dancing

-sleeps 8:00pm-6:30am and only naps 1.5 hours typically

-she is getting picky with what clothes and shoes she is wearing

    -loves string cheese and apples

  • Full of words now and starting to put together small sentences.

Counting to 10, knows pink, blue, green for colors, knows body parts. Can match animals and their sounds.

12 teeth. 4 top front, 4 bottom front, all 4 premolars - no canines yet!

Not taking swimming classes, but when I take her to the pool she's working on floating on her back and loves blowing bubbles in the water.

Has slept through the night for over a year now so that's not new, but she's decided to drop to only one nap now and doing fine without the extra sleep.

Working on potty training; she'll go to the potty for poops only so far.

Loves singing, dancing, reading, blocks and is turning into a real girly girl who loves her princess figurines, jewelry, and brushing her hair.

  • @michyme123 I was the same way. I was glued to my moms side. People always asked if I could even talk. It was just who I was and I think I turned out ok. ;) I think that's why it gets me even more angry because I was that child that DD is and instead of accepting her personality they get angry at her or me because they think I'm doing something to make her that way. Every time they leave they say she hates them. Ugh being shy does not mean she hates you. Sorry she's not a little performer for you! Ok rant over.
OMG Yes! I wasn't shy as a kid but my sister was. And why don't people understand that the more you try and force her to come to you the more she withdraws! Just leave her alone for heavens sake. It drives me absolutely batty. DD is just starting to go to her grandparents and she still takes a long time to warm up. It can take up to 2 hours for her to warm up to people so if you want to give her hugs then you should plan on being here for more than an cup of tea!  Ok, now I'm done ranting too :)

I was so shy my sister who is 5 years younger than me used to basically speak up for "us" in social situations. The first time we met my step-mom she made us supper and my sister piped up and said "WE don't like that". Before she was able to do that for me people used to ask my mom if I had a "problem" People are ridiculous in their expectations of children. I'd like to think I'm a pretty well adjusted person, and actually pretty outgoing now, I'm just not one for small talk.

Really?! That's amazing. DD will count to 3 and I thought that was a big deal. she can count to ten at not even 2 yo? You may have a little einstein on your hands!

lol thanks. I worry that she's too smart for her own good sometimes ;) But in all honesty when she's having a tantrum or crying fit we stop and count to ten and it relaxes her so she's often quiet or almost calm by the time we get to 10. She's got it down now out of sheer repetition.
