SIL is an a-hole (vent)

DH and I called his sister after our appointment to tell her our news. He asked her to keep it to herself until we could contact his dad and mom so we could share it with them. You know, since it's OUR NEWS. His sister is a 38 y/o grown-ass woman who can't control herself and is notorious for running her mouth about everything, even when asked not to.

About 7 minutes later I said to DH "maybe we should call your dad before SIL does." He was like, "she won't say anything." I called his father and he was all, "Congrats darling. I heard the good news!"

I am not surprised that SIL ran her mouth, but the level of crazy that someone has to be to share someone else's pregnancy announcement to family when specifically asked not to is maddening.

@carolyn231723 - trust me, I didn't want to go to her first, but DH insisted since they are tight. I was hoping she would be civilized. Not so much.

@KateSays - I understand where your MIL is coming from. In this case, SIL is just being a selfish psycho who desperately craves attention. I'll be over it in a few days, but it's so irritating and off the wall.

Well at least there will be other big announcements to share during the pregnancy (like sex and name etc) that won't have to start with her anymore. And if your H insists to share with his sister first, then you just need to remind him of this incident and how she couldn't keep her mouth shut.

Ugh, these stories are so frustrating. I am so sorry you all have to deal with that. Why do people have such a hard time recognizing that it is not their news to share? A good friend of mine had both her brother and her SIL immediately post on FB after her daughter was born before they even had a chance to do it themselves. Her brother even posted the name! She made him take it down ASAP.

@SocraTeaseMe - Thanks! The sweater is from Zara. It was a little pricey but worth it for the holiday photo ops.

Also my SIL is also a jerk but for other reasons than blabber mouth syndrome.

That's really annoying. However if I knew that about her, I personally would have told the people I really wanted to tell myself FIRST and then told her so that she wouldn't ruin the surprise for anyone.

you have every right to be angry. What she did was pretty wrong. But I would also be mad at my husband, if she is known to be untrustworthy with any type of news he should never have said anything to her.

@GlitterMuffin914 and @DogfishHead - I agree with you both. This particular situation was challenging, though. I sort of had to respect DH's choice to tell her first (before his parents) since I chose how we approached my family. He's really close with her and accepts and laughs off her insanity. I, however, have little patience for it. If it were up to me, I wouldn't have told her at all. 8->

Also I think every family has "that person" in their family. I have an aunt that drives me nuts and trying to name my kids for me. Sorry you have a crazy SIL!

That sucks. I'm a little nervous too because I have one of those people too.
My sister actually announced her pregnancy at the bridal shower that my MIL threw for me for her family. It was pretty comfortable, but she was also due on my birthday and made sure my wedding was about her too, so I've learned to adjust. =\

This pisses me off to no end!

This is our second pregnancy, and the first time, my Mom, FIL and Stepmom ran their mouths even when we asked them not to.

This time I told them if they can't keep a secret, they will find out on facebook like everyone else. And I mean it. We don't know if baby is healthy yet, our first appointment isn't until Feb 17th, and Chad's brother is expecting 7 weeks before us and we didn't want to steal their thunder with people finding out about us before their big news is announced. So effing irritating!
