Superbowl Sunday Recipes

I plan to eat my weight in finger foods/snacks/junk food on Sunday. Since I know my DH will be watching pre-game starting at like 8am through the end, I will be cooking throughout the day. Anybody have any killer recipes they will be making and like to share? Or a favorite they've had but haven't personally made? I'll post mine in the comments.

Bonus points for pictures!

Re: Superbowl Sunday Recipes

  • Still debating what to cook the hubs but here is what I've got pinned so far:

I will definitely have chili con queso, homemade salsa & chips! Someone mentioned Buffalo Chicken dip, which I have never had before.

  • I made this for the NFC championship game and it was a HUGE hit! I'll definitely be making it again on Sunday.

  • I'm jumping on the Buffalo Chicken Dip train (SO YUMMY) with an idea for anyone who wants to make it healthier:  Instead of ranch dressing I use fat free greek yogurt with ranch seasoning mixed in.  I also use reduced fat cheese.  Honestly, since the end result is a pot of melted gooey deliciousness I don't think you sacrifice flavor by doing this, it's still delicious!  I love eating it with celery.

  • great idea @snowpants! how much italian seasoning…a whole packet?
  • I love Skinny Taste recipes!
  • @TonyaCody06, I think I usually use about 1/2 or 3/4 of a ranch packet, but honestly I don't measure.

I also use shredded chicken breast because I don't like the canned meat.

  • I make what has just been labeled by my husband as "Game Day Dip."

Layer 1: 1 can refried beans
Layer 2: Ground beef (Brown the beef with onions, lawry's salt, and pepper to taste)
Layer 3: 2 cans diced green peppers
Layer 4: Salsa (I just eyeball it and make sure that I have enough salsa to cover the previous layer)
Layer 5: Sour cream (I use a medium sized container and just dollop it on over the salsa since it's hard to spread it out)
Layer 6: 2 cups of shredded cheese

Layer in a casserole dish. Bake for 20 mins at 400*. Serve with chips.

    These all sound so yummy!!

I'm definetly trying @babygabe614 's spinach dip. I've made it similar before, but never with Alfredo sauce, I'm intrigued!! I may mix the leftovers with chicken stock and serve it over pasta ;)

I'm also making what my friend dubbed "Teeny Tiny Tostadas". No recipe since I made it up, but I basically put 1 round tortilla chip in each hole of a muffin tin. Top that with beans, taco meat (optional), cheese, cilantro, salsa... really whatever you like on your nachos :) Bake for about 20 minutes then top with lettuce, black olives, sour cream, etc. I love that everyone can personalize it!

  • I need to investigate the Velveeta shortage because DH wants queso.

I have some spicy shredded carnitas in my freezer so i might throw together some nachos to get rid of it.

I am making a sopapilla and now my friends requested Paula Deen's banana pudding. Ugh. So basically I am not cooking anything IIII want to eat. Wah!!

  • I wasn't at all interested in the game until I saw this thread! I just told DH that we're eating healthy this weekend and going crazy Sunday night to even it out! :-p
