This is my second pregnancy but I was induced for my first so I never went through the "normal" labor experience. Every night for the last week i've been getting REALLY strong BHs. So bad that nearly every night i'm wondering if I should call my dr and go to L&D. I usually decide to go to sleep and figure the contractions will wake me up if they're the real deal. (and the BH have been timeable and close etc...). Sure enough, each morning I wake up and no labor. So my question is...
What was so different about your contractions last time that you knew it was time to go to L&D?
To be honest, i'm afraid I'm going to be one of those people that waits until it's too late. When it's actually time, i'll need my brother to come over and take care of my son before I can go to L&D so I need to factor that 30 minutes or so in.
To make matters worse, when I saw my Dr. yesterday she said that she isn't "big" on numbers and that the 5-1-1 rule isn't always a good indicator (especially since i've been having that on and off but no labor). So now I don't know what to look for! She said I'd just know.
Thanks in advance for your stories!

Re: Question about your last pregnancy...Contractions and labor signs?

Of course every woman has a different experience with labor and contractions. So my best advice (aside from double checking with your OB/MW) is time them. I'm not sure what your dr would tell you, but mine said go to L&D if I get contractions lasting 1 min long, and 5 min apart, for 2 hours. Or listen to your body and go earlier than 2 hours if you feel like you're progressing faster.
