Anyone else with VCI?

Just had our 20 week ultrasound and it's a healthy little girl! They did find an anomaly, though: velamentous cord insertion. I don't hava vasa previa (phew) but the cord is not fully inserted into the placenta so it's less protected. It may mean a C-section and switching to an OB from my midwives group... and more ultrasounds. I'm not terribly worried--the doctor emphasized that it was not a major concern until labor and delivery, which will be closely monitered, but I am wondering, anyone else out there with this diagnosis?

    I don't personally but I know someone else with a now-10 month old who got this news at her anatomy scan. She did end up having to have a c-section but all went very smoothly. She's still active on here so if no one from our board responds I can put you in touch with her. Good luck and congrats on your baby girl!

    I just searched VCI - I'm a May 2014 mom.  I have VCI (not vasa previa also - thank goodness) and both doctors I have spoken to say a vaginal delivery is still a possibility.  I'm open to having a c-section, and am planning on talking to another OB this Friday (I cycle through the docs at my practice) about what the absolute safest route will be.  Let me know if you want to chat or have any questions!

    I'm not actually very worried at this point, since the baby is very healthy and the doctor was quick to reassure me that it most likely won't lead to major issues, since it's not anywhere near my cervix. So many women give birth without problems and they only discover the condition after the fact. So I'm not planning to spend the next few months worrying... unless something new comes up. They're going to monitor closely during the labor... I'll just have to trust the medical professionals for a good outcome.
