Brands

I am a review-aholic. I look up reviews from multiple sites before I buy anything major. It's a sickness.
That being said, I am rely on brand loyalty. If I know a brand is a good one I will research models but stick with that brand.

So: what baby related brands do you love? hate? Why?

Re: Brands

  • Chicco for car seats. We bought an expensive britax convertible seat and I hate it. So not worth the money. Baby jogger for strollers. Gymboree for clothes (ok not cheap but the one thing we splurge on, girls are fun to dress!).

  • We have always been a Britax family with car seats that is until we got our new Diono last week and now we sold on it.

Graco has been consistently used in our house and holds up well. Especially their highchairs and pack N plays.

Baby Jogger strollers here. We tried a bugaboo with DD and are going back to Baby Jogger for these two.

I prefer playskool toys over fisher price but both good. Aden and Anais anything is amazing and holds up well.

  • We used and loved a Chico keyfit, and now use a Britax Boulevard with no complaints (except that the cover is not machine washable). Love our Ergo and baby jogger city mini! I also found that pbk crib sheets held up the best, and A+A stuff is fantastic. DD is 2.5 and still sleeps with her A+A dream blanket every night.

Also, some great items we used a lot were the FP rock n' play, jungle (rainforest?) activity mat, and jumperoo. Love FP for that stuff!

  • Also, I found that Gerber clothes ran way too small and Circo ran way too wide for my tall, skinny kid. Carter's onesies and pajamas fit perfectly.

  • Chicco infant seat.  Britax for all larger seats.  Granted our infant seat is 3+ years old now and products have changed since then.  Baby Jogger City Mini for stroller but I have no experience with any other stroller brand.  My friends with Graco travel systems hated them and had buyers remorse.

Carters for baby clothes.  Old Navy, Gymboree, Janie & Jack for toddler/preschooler clothes.  Hanna Andersson pajamas are my favorite and they hold up amazingly well.  I tend to buy on super sale at the outlet, otherwise they are $$$.  Stride Rite for shoes, particularly when they first learn to walk.  DS wears a lot of Sperry Top-siders now.

I'm a big fan of Fisher Price and Melissa & Doug toys.

Someone mentioned Aveeno for eczema and I'll second that.  DS had seasonal eczema that he outgrew when he was 2, but Aveeno Baby Eczema lotion worked great for him.  I will likely buy Aveeno products for #2.  Butt Paste for diaper cream.  Pampers for diapers and then Target brand in bigger sizes.  Huggies for wipes.

Yes! Gerber clothes are unbelievably small! If you get any newborn gerber clothes return them for the next size up.
I third this.  Gerber newborn were a waste of money for us.

  • We use Graco for pretty much everything baby, travel systems, pack n plays, etc... Except now that I need a double stroller I have a Phil and Ted. Carter's definitely has the best/truest fit for baby clothes ( and they have lines for Walmart and target too if you're worried about cost)

We have 3 different brands of carseats.  We just buy whatever is highest rated for safety.  We have Chicco for infant, Evenflo for convertible and Britax for booster/carseat for our 3 year old (it converts to a booster).

I like Vtech toys, and Melissa and Doug are good quality.

    We have mostly Carters clothes.

I used Playtex drop-ins and Tommee Tippee bottles, mostly for DS1, as I pumped for him and he was in daycare.  DS2 I mostly just breastfed, I was a SAHM most of the time for him.

I love Green Mountain Diapers cloth diapers, the pre-folds.

ETA:  Whoops, had my carseat brands switched around.

I second pretty much all this exactly (except for stroller I love my BOB). My DS pretty much lived in Carter's clothes the first year - they are great!

Oh and I usually just stuck with Target brand wipes since they are much cheaper.

  • I have a baby trend travel system that I like. Graco for crib and pack n play. Fisher Price toys are good. I'm a Pamper's gal when it comes to diapers. Carters clothes are awesome, but I have also started to shop at Children's Place. I find their clothes reasonable and think they have a better boy selection than JCPenny's.

I have heard graco and chicco for car seats. Love Aden and anais stuff for gifts.

We did Chicco travel system and love it. Aden &Anais has the best bibs. Get ones that snap instead of Velcro. Velcro sucks after several washes.

  • Oh yeah, Medela for breast pumps!  I used the Lansinoh freezer bags for storage and never had a problem.

We bought some Gerber clothes for cheap extras.  We always went a size up...their clothes are tiny.

If I had to pick again, I would get an IKEA one. The crib we have is a Graco one and I like it just fine, but I like how the IKEA ones are "lower profile" and let's be honest I'm never going to convert our crib into a bed.

We have the DaVinci Kalani crib (from Amazon) and I think it's pretty to look at but DD still cosleeps so she's hardly ever slept in it. At least it will be there if the new baby feels differently about cribs.

I currently have that crib on my secret registry on Amazon.  I saw that it's made with non-toxic materials/paint, which was definitely a nice change from some of the others that I looked at where all of the negative reviews talked about the chemical smell... yuck.
