Recommendation for wonderful home daycare in Banker's Hill

I am posting to recommend Diana's Daycare, a small, in-home daycare in Bankers Hill. I could not be happier with Diana, who currently cares for my son, now 8 months old. From day 1, she treated my child as if he were one of her own - she pays close attention to him and the other baby she cares for (who is about 18 months old), and immediately put me as ease by being the grandmother he never had. (To be fair, my son has two very lovely grandmothers, but neither of them live in the area.)

After visiting about a dozen daycare centers, and even enrolling my son in one but promptly pulling him when it seemed that the caregivers weren't really interacting with him, I was lucky enough to find Diana. She has run a daycare for 30+ years; her apartment is tidy and clean, she's licensed, and she clearly loves her charges. Added bonus: she's from Italy and speaks to my baby in Italian all day.

She is available to take a third baby (ages 0-2), and charges $200/week. She lives on Reynard Way, and her hours are strictly 7:30-5:00.

If interested, please contact her directly at 619-255-8224.

  • How early did you put your son with her? my son is 3 months old. Im a FTM and VERY nervous about leaving him with someone. Did you leave your son 5 days a week?

  • I left my son there starting at 3 and a half months. I'm a FTM too and I knew as soon as I met her that it was a good fit. I was originally opposed to a home daycare (I thought that unless I knew of someone great through word of mouth, I didn't want to leave my baby with a complete stranger), which is why I started my son in a daycare center. But I ended up pulling him out after 4 days - I felt like he wasn't getting any real interaction there. Then I spent a frantic weekend researching every possible option out there (nanny share, other daycares, other homecares - I was practically ready to quit my job until I'd found something good) and thankfully stumbled upon Diana. I met her on a Monday, introduced her to my husband and son on Tuesday, and had my son there on Wednesday morning. He's been there full-time ever since. I have truly been thrilled with her and feel very happy (and relieved, frankly, after the daycare experience) leaving my son in her care. If you end up calling her, she'll give you my phone number - I'd be happy to chat more if you're interested!
  • thanks...I'm going to see the place on monday :-)
  • No prob - I hope you liked her! If not, I also liked the "Green Beans and Little Sprouts" daycare center. Their infant room is only 4 infants but they may be filled to capacity.
  • i loved her!! But.my sister is going to help out for the time being and then I will probably use Diana. I met your son (what a cutie!!)

    Thanks for the good recommendation
