Babies big tummy concern

Hello everyone, I just had my 36 week appt and my dr was concerned that babies tummy is measuring a bit big for his proportion. It has really got me freaked out. I passed the initial GD test in the very beginning of pregnancy and she had me retake it again today. She also mentioned that if his tummy and shoulders are too big then C Section would be the safer route. She also put me on Atkins diet! I have to say today was a very upsetting appt.....anyone else having a similar situation? your replies are truly appreciated.

Thanks

Re: Babies big tummy concern

  • I've had type 1 diabetes for 20 odd years so have been heavily monitored throughout PG, and past two scans (so four weeks) babies belly has been measuring in the 95th percentile while rest of him/her is around the 60th percentile....I'm being induced at 38 weeks (2 weeks tomorrow!!!) at the moment, though I have a scan on Thursday so that could change to a scheduled c-section if baby gets any chunkier :)

oh wow! that's exciting that u may only have 2 weeks left! I'm wondering how my GD test will come out and if there are any other reasons his tummy is a little big
  • thank u @chikkabiddy and @Sakura0019 for the good vibes....we shall see the GD results on Wed and ultrasound measurements on Thur
  • Hope the GD test goes well :)
  • I had the same situation with both of my babies - stomach measuring much bigger than head - and we had easy deliveries. DH is shaped like that too - ha:). Good luck to you!
