Trying to Get Pregnant

"Drive-by"

Good morning all! I just wondered how long someone has to have been active on the boards, or what your guidelines are to consider someone a drive by. I've seen the term used a lot and wanted to know for future reference when/if I get a BFP.

  • Yeah length doesn't really matter because someone can be here for 4 months and have 4 posts. Not gonna know who you are. Someone can be here a month but participate a lot- I'll recognize those people.

IMO, it's about community and what you give.

  • If you're only here a month but participate a lot, I think it's fine. If you are here 3 or 4 months and post a couple times, then no. I judge by love tits and if I recognize you.

    Bahahah. Love tits.

  • Given that you got a squinter last night and brought your FRER to work this morning (TWW thread), followed by this post -  it sounds like you're expecting this to go down any minute.. my suggestion would be to update this thread or the TWW, not sure we need a whole separate thread at this point. I sort of recognize the name. Good luck!

    Thanks! :)

  • There's no specific time you need to be on the boards, it's all about how active you are. I've been here since September, I don't think I would post my BFP if I get one because I'm not super active. If you're an active member, you shouldn't question it.

DH SA March,May 2014 - Low motility and shape issues. On vitamins per RE to help

Me testing April 3, 2014 - FSH and LH good, HSG showed blocked right tube

April 29, 2014 - First RE appt., right tube needs to be removed and possibly left also if

it's bad too. RE suggests going straight to IVF

June 4, 2014 - LAP/HSC and unexpected endo. removed but tubes got to stay!

June 13, 2014 - Post-Op appointment. We decide where to go next since main issue

  • I have a question that relates to this, so Ill post it here-- what's the difference between a driveby and "trolling"... Or are they the same?

Somebody who is trolling is doing it for the sole purpose of pissing people off.
And trolling isnt limited to BFP posts.  It can be any topic posted to stir up drama.

    Gotcha, thanks ladies!

  • OP, @irishtheatrechic made a good point. I've been here since November but I lurk way more than I post. I recognize siggies/screen names but that doesn't mean people recognize mine because I don't post every day. I feel like I know some of the ladies here who post often but that doesn't mean they know me. That's just a different way to think about it.

    Good luck!

  • I very rarely read/post in the W2O and 2WW threads, so I really base it off of whether I recognize your avatar (I'm almost always mobile) and love tits. So really it's helpful if you've contributed more in the community than just on those two threads.

But generally I congratulate anyone who gives some info and more than just "got my BFP today, yay!!!" That's so annoying, unhelpful, and discouraging (depending on where I am in my cycle).

I also feel like if you never set up an avatar or siggy you probably haven't been around long enough to be really active on the board.

^^ This! I feel like I know way more about people from their siggy's than anything else.

But I change my siggy so often! How will you know who I am?! ;)

Yes, except *meaningful*activity is also important... just posting a ton of stupid crap in your TWW because you think you will get pregnant fast and want to look active is stupid and obvious (jennalking).

I agree with this and I totally get what you mean... but as someone who is still new, but posts consistently, I'm not sure how well I'm "liked."

This sounds awfully insecure sounding, but just because I post often and contribute doesn't mean anyone on this board considers me their "friend."  And I wouldn't want to offend anyone by posting a BFP (Not that you have anything to worry about--I don't think I'll O for AT LEAST another week), so this post piqued my interest and I was interested in seeing everyone's answers as well.

This board is full of a great group of ladies (any dudes out there?) that make me laugh all the time, but you can be a tough crowd as well, and it's hard to know if you're "in" the club, KWIM?

OMG so many air quotes.  Sorry!

And @MrsSinner402, I agree with @KrissyLeighN--you should probably just update this thread if you get a BFP.  Good luck!

I have only been here a short time but I have wondered this too.
