Re: PgAL Checkin

  • How far along are you? 36 weeks, 5 days.

Do you have any upcoming appointments or milestones? Had a BPP and NST today. He passed both of them. Twice weekly appointments the remainder of the pregnancy.

Any pregnancy symptoms or pregnancy cravings or aversions? Just the usual. Not very comfortable in most positions sitting, standing or sleeping. :-)

QOTW: How has your significant other reacted to this rainbow pregnancy? How do they continue to react and how are you supportive of one another? DH was very excited when he found out we were expecting again, but he has also been overly protective of us both. He continually checks on me and won't let me overdo things. This weather has him on high alert (super cold and icey) and he has made me stay home from work. We talk about our fears a lot. We just keep praying that we get to bring this baby home alive and that he has a long and healthy life. He refuses to miss any ultrasounds so that he gets to see LO. I know he is both excited and terrified that each look will be the last we get of him with his heart beating. Those are my thoughts too.

Open Topic. What is on your mind this week? Just trying not to be an emotional mess over the next several weeks. I also have to remind myself that I will have to share my baby once they are born, and I kind of resent that. I know once he is here it might work itself out, but right now all I can think about is having him with me and DH 100% of the time. My MIL especially talks about wanting to hold him and rock him, and a part of me just wants to keep him to myself. I dont know why it is so hard to think of sharing him.

Do you have any upcoming appointments or milestones? I just had my regular ob appointment today

Any pregnancy symptoms or pregnancy cravings or aversions?  Starving all the time and struggling with healthy snacks.

QOTW: How has your significant other reacted to this rainbow pregnancy? How do they continue to react and how are you supportive of one another?  We don't really talk about it, like At ALL.  If I bring up my fears of loss or something being wrong, he get pretty upset with me and tells me I am being too negative.  I think I am just being realistic, and considering all possible outcomes.
But, he is being more protective than usual; doesn't want me to lift anything or walk to the store, always telling me to take it easy and put my feet up.  Thats a good thing.

Open Topic. What is on your mind this week?  Just getting through another week.

Do you have any upcoming appointments or milestones? our next big goal - 28 weeks is coming up next week. And then on Feb 11th we have our 3D/4D ultrasound which I'm super excited about because we haven't had a sono since 21wks

pregnancy symptoms or pregnancy cravings or aversions? Groin and pelvic pain have me seriously considering using a cane! It's so painful when I get out of bed or try to turn over. My appetite is slowly coming back and one of the ladies over on the PgAL board mentioned girl scout cookies and now I cant stop thinking about all the delicious flavors lol

QOTW: How has your significant other reacted to this rainbow pregnancy? How do they continue to react and how are you supportive of one another? Dh has held back on making plans and I completely understand. When either one of us starts talking about buying baby things he'll stop and say we'll talk about this later. Also, any little pain I have he's all over it asking questions and wanting to take me to the dr's office or hospital.

Open Topic. What is on your mind this week? I've been feeling lots of pressure on my cervix/cerclage so I went to get it checked out. Dr says my external cervix is still closed and the cerclage is holding, but it just feels terrible I'm hoping LO stays put for at least a few more weeks but I just can't tell what's gong on.

  • How far along are you?  15 weeks, 1 day

Do you have any upcoming appointments or milestones?  Early glucose test tomorrow and OB is going to review my 2 week BP log.  Hopefully it is to his liking, otherwise modified bed rest is in my very near future.

Any pregnancy symptoms or pregnancy cravings or aversions?  My biggest symptom is exhaustion.  Having a little bit of heartburn from time to time and backaches, too.  As for cravings, it is usually anything that is a carb.

QOTW: How has your significant other reacted to this rainbow pregnancy? How do they continue to react and how are you supportive of one another?  DH has been great.  This is my third pregnancy, and even though the other two resulted in  losses he continues to follow the same routine.  Every night he kisses me goodnight, kisses my belly goodnight and blows kisses goodnight to our angel.  This has really helped me to be able to feel both hopeful for our new baby and helps ease my grief from our losses.

Open Topic. What is on your mind this week?  Just trying to stay hopeful and positive.  I am not scheduled for another doppler check until next week.  It is hard on PgAL brain at this stage of the game.

@noethola - Thank you for posting check-in!  I can totally relate to your feelings of not wanting to share your LO.  Hopefully your family will have some understanding and not push you too much.

@bayberry12 - I am sure it is frustrating when DH won't let you vent your fears, but its great that he is "making" you put your feet up!  Also, what are your go to healthy snacks?  That is definitely a struggle for me too.  I try to keep nuts, yogurt and fruit on hand, but they do get old after awhile.

@tracint - I am sorry your cervix is giving you so much pain.  Hope you feel better soon!  And lots of luck at your next u/s!

Regular ob appt today and then I start going every week. And then today after my ob appt we are off to the MFM for them to check out baby and we will set a date to remove my cerclage in a few weeks.

Any pregnancy symptoms or pregnancy cravings or aversions?
Just feeling big and uncomfortable. I need help to get off the couch, if I drop something on the floor it stays there until someone else picks it up, etc. No real food cravings or aversions.

QOTW: How has your significant other reacted to this rainbow pregnancy? How do they continue to react and how are you supportive of one another?
He is actually really good at telling me that this pregnancy isn't like the last one. And he has picked up a lot of the slack for me being on restricted activity. He makes sure I put my feet up an don't overdo it.

We opened the package with the car seat and washed all the baby clothes. It is scary knowing soon we could be bringing baby home. I am both excited and scared.

  • Noethola Thanks for doing the check in.  I get what you're saying about sharing the baby.  A family member just mentioned holding the baby the whole time at the family reunion this summer and my initial reaction was "what makes you think I'm going to allow ANYONE to hold him/her?" I think that's our "Mama Bear" instincts kicking in...

How far along are you? 28w 1d

Do you have any upcoming appointments or milestones? Starting the third trimester yesterday!  Glucose test on Thursday and bi-weekly OB appt, too

Any pregnancy symptoms or pregnancy cravings or aversions? I could eat pretty much all the time, just have to be careful to not eat TOO much - I get really uncomfortable easily.  Also have to be better about "taking it easy" and resting more than I want or contractions start in the evenings...

QOTW: How has your significant other reacted to this rainbow pregnancy? How do they continue to react and how are you supportive of one another? He has been so supportive and happy since BFP.  He's very positive and helped especially in the beginning that this baby deserves celebrating...

Open Topic. What is on your mind this week? Our shower is in a month, and while I can't wait for it to be here (I want things to be ready for this baby!) I went to a shower for a co-worker at work last week and I felt so awkward that it made me nervous for my shower.  I'm sick of people talking to me like I haven't been pregnant before, like I haven't given birth before.  I may not have brought a baby home, but I don't need you to talk to me like this is my first time at the rodeo...

Do you have any upcoming appointments or milestones?  I start my twice weekly NSTs this week.

Any pregnancy symptoms or pregnancy cravings or aversions?  I'm just looking forward to all the yummy things I can eat once LO is here (I have GD)

QOTW: How has your significant other reacted to this rainbow pregnancy? How do they continue to react and how are you supportive of one another?  At first he was very guarded.  He didn't believe the HPT at all, he didn't really believe it until the doctor confirmed.  He didn't want to talk much about it at all, he was happy but he was protecting his heart.  But once we had the a/s and found out it was another girl, he started to open up.  He doesn't have a problem talking about it now, and we're both anxiously awaiting her arrival.

Open Topic. What is on your mind this week?  Just the reality of it all is setting in.  I've been so focused on just getting through stages of the pregnancy, it's scary to think that now I need to start thinking of her being here.  We have a crib in the nursery (albeit not set up yet, but I can see the pieces), we have a stroller, and my shower is this Saturday.  It's getting real.

I totally feel you there. People look at me like I have two heads when they start in on "Oh just wait till you go through birth, you will want an epidural (or whatever comes to their mind)" And I remind them I already gave birth once, not that long ago either. Congrats on 3rd Tri!!

@Bayberry12 There are times my DH reminds me that I am being too negative and that we have to believe this outcome will be different. Its good he is taking care of you!

@tracint Praying that cerclage stays strong and baby stays put (though a little higher up maybe.)

@princezjk Your Dh sounds very sweet. Its a beautiful way for him to express the marriage of the grief and joy that come with being PgaL.

@perkyerky I can't believe you are so close to having the cerclage removed! Hoping LO stays put even after it comes out. And I agree, I have a debate with whatever item I dropped as to whether it is worth any effort of trying to pick it up. At your 30 week appointment drs offices should hand out those trash grabbers that people use...

@angelsnight All the best for your shower this weekend! I hope that you feel that this baby is celebrated and that you are soon allow yourself to really start setting things up for her arrival. Its surreal, that is for sure. Take it at the pace your heart will let you.

Do you have any upcoming appointments or milestones? 3-hour glucose screening on Friday, since I failed my 1 hour.

Any pregnancy symptoms or pregnancy cravings or aversions? I've been having BH and some regular contractions on and off for the past few days, usually no more than 2-3 in an hour.  Yesterday afternoon I started contracting at 8 minutes apart.  I went in and they put me on Procardia long and instant release, and did a fetal fibronectin test.  Should get the results of that today, and that will determine whether I can resume life as "normal" or whether I need to check in to the hospital . I'm trying to contain my internal freak-out to a minimum until we actually get the results back.  The procardia has slowed the contractions down, but I'm still having them, especially any time I stand up.  In addition to worrying about PTL and another premature (even earlier) baby, I'm also worried about another uterine rupture.  My uterus ruptured with Eleanor after I'd been contracting for 3 weeks, and these contractions have started much earlier.

QOTW: How has your significant other reacted to this rainbow pregnancy? How do they continue to react and how are you supportive of one another?
My husband is amazing.  We both agreed before we started trying that we'd try to treat this like a normal pregnancy as long as we could, but we would both do anything we can to keep this little one safe.  He's taken on extra work around the house in addition to starting a full-time job, and he's very supportive of me.

Open Topic. What is on your mind this week?  Mostly worried about PTL at this point.

Definitely.  Whatever it takes.  The fFN came back negative (hooray), but my contractions just spiked back up to every 7-8 minutes.  About to call the OBs back again.

My Go to snacks really the same as yours; yogurt, nuts, fruit or dried fruit, but that does get old especially when pretzels, crackers, cookies and chocolate are around.

I want brownies, doughnuts and slushies like they are going to run out! I have been behaving though. I have so much pressure and it feels like he is going to fall out soon. I can't move, cramping a lot. I wonder how my cervix is holding up.

Many, many prayers @gertiebarden that contractions calm down/stop and that baby keeps growing strong!
