Hi all! DW and I are going to start doing ICIs at home, which seems like working backwards (from IUIs). In and effort to save some $$ and take the clinical feel out of inseminations I will start charting this month. I was charting the year before we started with the RE, so I am vaguely familiar with it. I just have some questions for all you mamas that have succeeded with ICIs at home. Did you do one or two per cycle? What are your fave sperm banks? What insemination methods did you use? After, did you stay horizontal (legs up)? We're you monitored by an RE or OB? How many tries before your BFP? Any extra info is so appreciated....trust me I'm taking notes like an eager student right now, so if you think of anything that really helped you please share. I look forward to hearing about your journeys and sharing mine as well.

Hi there! We got pregnant on our 3rd try at home. The second was a bust so really it took 2 well timed tries.

1. We did one vial per cycle and really focused on timing. The time that worked we did the insemination 12 hours after the positive OPK

2. We used pacific reproductive services. I don't know much about the others, but they have good prices and high counts so we liked them and adult photos.

3. Wifey just used the syringe that came with the sperm.

4. I did put my legs up, although not horizontal. We have a fancy schmancy bed so we raised up the legs and stayed that way for a couple hours. I rotated from front to back and sides per the bank's instructions about every 30 min for 2 hours.

5. No monitoring for us. We wanted to try at home for a while before we did any monitoring

We did multiple ICI at home and did not get pregnant, we got our BFP on our first IUI. I think I wasn't getting pregnant due to some scaring on my cervix, but we don't know that for sure. But when trying at home we usually did two inseminations because we used a KD. I laid down afterwards, but I usually got restless after about 20 minutes.

Best of luck to you and your DW! I honestly wish I would have gotten pregnant at home, but right now I am just happy to be pregnant.

@trisholio would your dr limited your clomid cycles if you didn't get the BFP?

We were on cycle 4 with the clomid and he was only willing to do one more and then switch to something else.

@trisholio my doctor said the same thing---I am doing unmedicated this round, but I went in for a baseline u/s this morning and I have 4 cysts leftover from my last clomid cycle. Have you ever had this? Can you proceed with an IUI with cysts? Dr. Google is not helping me!
