Craving garbage

I really don't know why this happens.  I get so sick that I cannot cook or stand any smells.  When not pregnant, we eat very healthily...but when I am tired and sick, I only can stomach things like Dr. Pepper and take out.  I do not get it.  Surely I am not deficient in transfat or something...

Re: Craving garbage

  • My last pregnancy this was a major problem for me. I was throwing up so much and losing weight so my OB gave me permission to eat whatever I could keep down... which turned out to be Taco Bell, McDonalds, and soda. It really sucks, especially when you are used to eating healthy and want to do the best for your LO, but don't beat yourself up about it. Remember your Prenatal Vitamin and eat healthy again when you can.

  • Thanks.  It is so lame because I always get excited when I get my BFP and read about all the pregnancy foods, etc.  Then a week later, I am like, blah, let's order Chinese.  I quit soda and now I had to go back b/c it makes my stomach feel better.  Last time I had GD, and I'm sure it was because I was exclusively living on lemonade.  When they were like, now none of that, I was like, but what will I eat?  Luckily (and unluckily) she came just a couple weeks later.  I am praying it does not get that bad.
  • I'm having that problem today. I'm normally a very healthy eater and today I was eating leftover pizza at 930 am.

  • Ugh, same here. I can't say I'm craving bad foods, but they're the only things that sound even "ok" and I have no idea why. I haven't had an appetite in 2 weeks and I've been forcing myself to eat. Last night all I wanted was Mac and Cheese. But I forced myself to eat some chicken and brown rice with veggies. Once I started eating it was fine though. I feel your pain! I say just push through and try to make/ eat the healthy food (probably the more bland the better for your stomach, hence my chicken and rice) but allow a splurge every once in awhile (I'd be a liar if I didn't mention we ordered pizza on Friday ;) )

  • This happened to me last pregnancy, and I ended up gaining 60lbs. :( You can give into your cravings, just don't binge on them..

  • I am right there with you, craving deep fried and greasy foods.  It's the only thing that I feel like I can stomach, although it seems like it should be HARDER to stomach!  Arrghh!

  • Same here. Popsicles, ice cream, Lucky Charms, Jello and pudding have not made me sick at all and curb the nausea.
